Preferred:

• MS in Mechanical Engineering.

Job Title:

Mechanical Engineer, Turbocharger

Key Job Elements:

• Assignment will focus on design, development, and manufacture of PRL’s 2-stroke and 4-stroke engine turbocharger family;

• Work in a team environment as part of Progress Rail’s Engine Design/Turbocharger Design Engineering Group;

• Performs design analyses;

• Assists in developing and implementing engineering designs and associated design changes;

• Participates in solution of mechanical engineering related product problems (Root Cause);

• Plans and implements test and / or development programs.

• Provides technical direction to execute test and validation support personnel;

• Works with engineering functions, suppliers, plant personnel and others to implement design developments, product improvements, and cost reductions;

• Releases components for production;

• Communicates information to and from internal and external customer organizations;

• Coordinates and consults with departments outside engineering; manufacturing, supply chain, field service, etc.;

• Stays abreast of new technology and competitive products;

• Travel as required.

Qualifications and Experience:

Required:

• Proven experience of 3 or more years in mechanical machinery design;

• Excellent analytical abilities where problems are very complex;

• Excellent written and oral communication skills;

• Understanding of materials, engineering theory, and principles of design;

• Experience and understanding of manufacturing processes;

• Experience using CAD or computer programs to design, develop, and analyze mechanical components.

Preferred:

• Gear train design experience;

• Fluid-film bearing design and understanding;

• Vibration and rotor dynamics understanding;

• Understanding and experience with forgings and casting components, manufacturing, and properties;

• Unigraphics experience;

• Python, VBA, Matlab programming experience.
