Actalent Bridge Inspector/Engineer in Laurel, Maryland

Job Title: Bridge Inspector/EngineerJob Description

We are seeking an experienced Bridge Inspector/Engineer who will be responsible for performing structural analysis and design for transportation structures such as bridges, retaining walls, box culverts, and pipes. The role involves preparing engineering calculations, developing design drawings, conducting fieldwork including site visits and bridge inspections, and preparing detailed inspection reports. The successful candidate will also conduct load ratings for bridges and culverts, review drawings and reports to develop design options, repair recommendations, and cost estimates, and ensure all work complies with relevant standards.

Responsibilities

  • Perform structural analysis and design for transportation structures such as bridges, retaining walls, box culverts, and pipes.

  • Prepare engineering calculations and develop design drawings.

  • Conduct fieldwork, including site visits and bridge inspections (based on NBIS), building inspections, and prepare inspection reports.

  • Conduct load ratings for bridges and culverts.

  • Review drawings and reports to develop design options, repair recommendations, and cost estimates.

  • Ensure work is in compliance with relevant standards.

Essential Skills

  • At least 3-5 years of experience as an inspector on bridges.

  • Familiarity with MicroStation, which can be from earlier in career or internship.

  • A bachelor's degree in civil engineering with a focus on structural engineering.

  • 4-7 years of relevant experience.

  • Proficiency in steel and concrete design.

  • A Maryland EIT.

  • NBIS Bridge Inspection Team Leader Certification.

  • Proficiency in using MicroStation and AutoCAD for bridge projects.

  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience with concrete design, foundation design, and steel design.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $85000.00 - $125000.00/yr.
