Construction Materials Engineering Technician

Your Day-to-Day:
As a Construction Materials Engineering Technician, you will receive a company vehicle to conduct field testing and observations on active construction sites. You'll play a key role in ensuring that projects are "built right" by performing critical testing and inspections. This position offers opportunities to obtain further certifications, take on complex testing duties, and mentor junior technicians.
* Review Plans: Analyze construction documents to verify that they align with on-site conditions.
* Conduct Testing: Perform and observe testing on materials like soil, concrete, asphalt, and more to ensure compliance with project specifications and industry standards.
* Document Results: Use software such as Metafield to accurately report test results and observations.
* Calibrate Equipment: Ensure that testing equipment is calibrated to industry standards for precise results.
* Enforce Compliance: Conduct Special Inspections to ensure regulatory compliance and quality standards are upheld on projects.
* Communicate with Stakeholders: Maintain transparent communication with project teams to foster collaboration and drive project success.
What You Bring:
* High School Diploma/GED required.
* 2+ years of experience in construction materials testing or inspections (soil, concrete, masonry, asphalt) or equivalent experience, with an associate degree in a related field.
* Strong communication skills in English (both written and verbal).
* Certifications (preferred but not required):
- American Concrete Institute (ACI) certifications (Field Testing Grade I, Strength Testing Technician, Laboratory Technician).
- International Code Council (ICC) Special Inspector (Reinforced Concrete, Masonry, Soils).
- DOT Certifications in Aggregate, Conventional Density, Asphalt, and Concrete.
