The Cook is responsible for providing and preparing nutritious meals and served to all residents of Friendship Towers Assisted Living at Sayre Christian Village . This position must follow nutritional guidelines and menus on a daily basis and abide by all health regulations and guidelinesCOVID card or exemption requiredFood Handlers Permit RequiredESSENTIAL FUNCTIONSResponsible for providing resident service in the area of meals, floor stock, nourishment and food preferences.Handles food according to all government guidelines and is aware of minimum standards for a quality food service operation.Adheres to standard recipes and menus set forth by Sayre Christian Village.Adheres and maintains Sayre Christian Village and the Food and Nutrition policies and procedures.Interacts with employees and residents in a friendly and courteous manner.Comply with state and federal regulations and with HIPAA Security Policies and Procedures.Other duties as assigned.DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIESResponsible for providing a variety of food based on nutritional needs for residents.Responsible for maintaining all necessary food items.Responsible for ordering supplies and food supplies as needed.Ability to follow directions and daily menus.Assist in meal service as needed.SKILLS & ABILITIESKnowledge and understanding of accident protocol.Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills.Ability to work independently and with others.Ability to build trust and rapport with residents and families.Ability to work collaboratively with residents and Nursing Home employees as needed.Must obtain a thorough knowledge of cafeterias, kitchens, kitchen supplies, freezers, and residents’ rooms and needs.EXPERIENCE & EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS2 plus years of experience cooking for large and small groups.High School Diploma or GEDPHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS ESSENTIAL TO PERFORM THE DUTIES OF THE JOBFrequently communicates with employees, residents and Dietary Aide and Supervisors to ensure the nutritional guidelines are met.Occasionally lifts objects weight up to 50 pounds.Frequently remains in a standing position.Frequently stoops, kneels, or bends when stocking kitchen and food supplies.Frequently works in a well-lit, tempered room.Frequently works with kitchen appliances that can reach high temperatures.
