Bath Township Assistant Fiscal Officer in Lima, Ohio
A fiduciary employee of the township Fiscal Officer works under the direction of the Fiscal Officer in all duties related to applicable sections of the Ohio Revised Code including, but not limited to, Section 507.021 and shall be bonded in accordance with ORC Section 507.03.
Primary Duties of the Assistant Fiscal Officer include, but are not limited to:
- Assist Fiscal Officer with general duties & errands
- Assist Township Trustees and Administrators as directed.
- Utilize the State Auditors Uniformed Accounting System (UAN) to process the Township's accounting and payroll
- Setup and maintain employees and vendors within UAN
- Process employee biweekly payroll
- Verify input and output and prepare and transmit EFT to bank.
- Process all post payroll taxes and withholding including:
- Optional Payroll Deductions (i.e. AFLAC, Deferred Compensation)
- Retirement reporting (i.e. OPERS, OP&F)
- Collect and post revenue receipts and prepare bank deposits.
- Organize and process purchase order.
- Organize and process invoices for payment (i.e. check, payment vouchers).
- Post adjusting and/or correcting entries into accounting system. Create new appropriation and receipt codes as required.
- Maintain record of bank transactions and balances. Assist with the monthly bank reconciliation.
- Maintain records & Department Files---file & scan
- Prepare annual tax documents (W-2's, 1099's, locals, etc.)
- Assist the Public (i.e. reply to public records requests, provide statistical information, etc.)
- Learn Fiscal Officer's routine & filing deadlines, have a general understanding of Township finances, Sunshine Law, public records, contracts---attend training for the same
- Follow Ohio Revised Code, Auditor of State & Granville Township regulations
- Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Strong organizational skills.
- 5-10 years applicable accounting, government, banking or fund accounting experience.
- Knowledge of government accounting principles, practices, and procedures.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
Competent in the use of Windows-based computer programs (excel, word, etc.)
Qualifications:
Bachelors or Associates Degree with experience in accounting is preferred, or related field, and work experience in government accounting, or any equivalent combination of education and work experience.
Working Conditions:
Typical office environment interacting with other township and State & local government officials.
