Ford Motor Company Engineering Specialist, Controls-Plantwide Power Distribution in Lima, Ohio

What you'll do...

  • Maintaining and updating of plantwide power distribution system from 138KV incoming switchyard to buss level 480VAC distribution to plant equipment.

  • Designated Lima Engine Plant Electrical Senior Authorized Person. Underlying responsibilities include:

  • tracking of electrical qualifications of all floor electrical engineers, electricians, and apprentices as it relates to the power distribution system via the versatility matrix

  • Receiving new equipment and incorporating into maintenance support planning. Designated person for electrical permitting (required for all outages at bus level and above)

  • Designated person for electrical permitting which is required for all outages at bus level and above

  • Continuous support of calculating and creating arc flash/ arc blast labelling for all new equipment and ongoing labelling of existing equipment.

  • Planning and communicating with the plant on an ongoing basis when planned power outages are required

  • Responsible party for plantwide facilities support (lighting, fire suppression, security, tank farms, HVAC)

  • Responsible electrical support for all automatic powered overhead doors, dock levelers, dock locks, drawings, etc. for our central maintenance organization.

  • Responsible for submitting project requests for dollars for upgrades of equipment due to obsolescence, improved technology, etc., and responsible for the project management of these projects from initiation to completion.

  • Responsible for the ongoing management of the annual plant energy curtailment contract with electrical utilities to be able to respond to outside energy grid emergencies and reduce LEP plant demand during those times and perform annual curtailment test.

You'll have…

  • High School Diploma

  • 2 or more years of Controls Engineering experience (internship and coop experience will be considered)

  • High Voltage Experience

Even better, you may have...

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering

  • Electrical background (electrician or technician) preferred

  • Familiar with PLC/CNC (Siemens/ Allen-Bradley), VFD, Servo, Profinet, and ABB

  • Solid understanding of laser burning

  • Demonstrated ability to read blueprints, modify electrical schematics and use AutoCAD

  • Validated ability to troubleshoot equipment and continuously evaluate for process improvements

  • Experience with conveyor system programming and overhead Gantry

  • Solid understanding of networking to include DH+, Ethernet and remote IO

  • Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma experience

  • Lean Tools – 5S, Kanban, Poka-Yoke, Value Stream Mapping experience

  • Understanding of 8D, FMEA, and DMAIC processes

  • Familiar with TQM and Kaizen methods

  • One or more years of experience with MS Office (Word/Excel/PowerPoint/Outlook)

  • Knowledge of simulation modeling and visual factory management preferred

This position is a range of salary grades 6, 7 and 8.
