Los Alamos National Laboratory EasyIT Warehouse Team Leader (Solutions Architect 3) in Los Alamos, New Mexico
What You Will Do
ICE division is seeking an energetic, technical, and customer-focused Warehouse Team Leader to oversee our IT inventory operations and lead a team in providing exceptional technical support while driving operational excellence for the ICE EasyIT (ICE-EIT) group. ICE-EIT consists of approximately 65 professionals, technicians, and students. The role combines strong leadership, technical expertise, and operational management to ensure a collaborative and efficient work environment within the warehouse for the Hardware Team. The Hardware Team provides standardized equipment in support of EasyIT operations which includes provisioning (CDC), Encryption (FDE), Staging (DeployIT) and Loans (LendIT).
The ICE-EIT group provides information technology solutions for our customers. Our vision is to maximize the end-user experience and create efficiencies to allow for constantly evolving technology. The division is organized around EasyIT and field support groups that are focused on supporting unclassified and classified programmatic and mission support needs, and a technical services group that provides the enterprise level configuration management services for these computing environments.
Solutions Architect 3 ($112,000- $186,700)
As an important part of the ICE leadership team, the successful candidate's primary responsibilities include first level manager duties as defined for a Solutions Architect 3 position. In addition to leading and managing the team, the successful candidate will be responsible for the following:
Leadership
Oversee employee performance management, including coaching, mentoring, and development of warehouse staff.
Select, retain, and nurture a high-performing team that meets operational objectives.
Lead the team in adapting to change, improving processes, and achieving goals.
Track and report on team performance using metrics to drive continuous improvement.
Foster a culture of professionalism, innovation, and customer-focused service delivery.
Technical and Operational Competence
Manage and optimize IT inventory, ensuring compliance with organizational standards and cybersecurity requirements as required by the DOE/NNSA, LASO, OCIO.
Supporting the management and oversight of major efforts such as infrastructure upgrades, new hardware, and software implementation.
Implementing and supporting ICE best practices, services, and tools to promote standard desktop configurations and security.
Proven process improvement.
Proven service innovation and evolution.
Experience with tracking projects and meeting milestones and deadlines.
Institutional Acumen
Build and maintain positive relationships with service providers and stakeholders to ensure seamless operations.
Experience presenting to or engaging with multiple levels of management effectively.
Collaborate across all divisions to align resources with operational goals.
Manage budgets, personnel, and property resources efficiently to achieve team deliverables.
What You Need
Minimum Job Requirements:
Proven experience in a leadership role within a warehouse or operational environment.
Extensive knowledge of hardware, operating systems, and network infrastructure principles.
Demonstrated expertise in desktop and server support, infrastructure design, and implementation.
Technical leadership experience with an emphasis on planning, employee development, performance management, team building, goal setting, problem solving, and conflict resolution.
Excellent ability to collaborate and manage customer relationships effectively.
Experience in performance management, conflict resolution, and fostering a positive work culture.
Education/Experience: Position requires a Bachelor's degree and 8 years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience directly related to the occupation.
Desired Qualifications:
Active DOE L or Q clearance, or equivalent, transferable clearance
Knowledge of IT governance frameworks such as ITIL, or COBIT
Knowledge of the Information Architecture process and implementation of standards
Knowledge of project management principles to set project scope, schedule, priorities, and deliverables
Experience in critical thinking, problem solving, and decision making
Work Location: The work location for this position is onsite and located in Los Alamos, NM. All work locations are at the discretion of management.
Position commitment: Regular appointment employees are required to serve a period of continuous service in their current position in order to be eligible to apply for posted jobs throughout the Laboratory. Directive 206.2 - Employment with Triad requires a favorable decision by NNSA indicating employee is suitable under NNSA Supplemental Directive 206.2 (https://directives.nnsa.doe.gov/supplemental-directive/sd-0206-0002) . Clearance: Q (Position will be cleared to this level). Selected applicants will be subject to a background investigation conducted by or on behalf of the Federal Government, and must meet eligibility requirements* for access to classified matter. This position requires a Q clearance. and obtaining such clearance requires US Citizenship except in extremely rare circumstances. Dependent upon the position, additional authorization to access classified information may be required, which may or may not be available to dual citizens. Receipt of a Q clearance and additional access authorization ultimately is a decision of the Federal Government and not of Triad.
*Eligibility requirements: To obtain a clearance, an individual must be at least 18 years of age; U.S. citizenship is required except in very limited circumstances. New-Employment Drug Test: The Laboratory requires successful applicants to complete a new-employment drug test and maintains a substance abuse policy that includes random drug testing. Although New Mexico and other states have legalized the use of marijuana, use and possession of marijuana remain illegal under federal law. A positive drug test for marijuana will result in termination of employment, even if the use was pre-offer.
Regular position: Term status Laboratory employees applying for regular-status positions are converted to regular status.
Internal Applicants: Regular appointment employees who have served the required period of continuous service in their current position are eligible to apply for posted jobs throughout the Laboratory.
