University of Louisville Manager Student Success (First Generation Upper-class) in Louisville, Kentucky
Minimum Requirements:Bachelor's degree in a related field and four (4) years of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Grade 6 (Salaried)Position Description:The Manager, Student Success will support the initiatives of the Student Success Center (SSC) by improving the undergraduate experience and retention outcomes for students who are at higher risk of attrition, including first-generation and/or limited-income students. This position will design, implement, and assess programs which support student success from the second year through graduation and prepare students for their chosen path following degree completion. Additionally, this position will maintain SSC partnerships within and external to the university as well as provide day-to-day supervision to SSC programming team members focused on upper-class student success. As a member of the SSC team, the Manager, Student Success instructs the SSC’s first-year experience course, assists with SSC programming and initiatives, and represents the SSC as needed for speaking engagements and committees with stakeholders on campus and in the community.Essential Duties and Responsibilities Assist in the overall management of the Student Success Center as a member of the SSC’s leadership team. Provide input on strategic priorities and budget allocations. Support a culture of both employee and student success.Design, implement, and assess programs which support student success from the second year through graduation and prepare them for their chosen path following degree completion.Recruit, hire, train, and supervise SSC programming team members or interns responsible for success programs targeting upper-class students and oversee the implementation of those programs, including first-generation faculty, staff and student recognition efforts and SSC events.Collaborate with SSC team members, including the Manager, Student Success (First Year) to build and integrate into programming a roadmap for student success and career readiness focused on supporting students who are at higher risk of attrition, including first-generation and/or limited-income students.Manage funds allocated to the SSC’s programming for upper-class student success, including regular monitoring and projections to ensure expenditures remain within the given amount.Facilitate SSC partnerships within and external to the university to coordinate and collaborate work as needed for program development and implementation.Conduct and oversee regular program assessment and utilize results for program improvement. Fulfill or facilitate data requests and information-sharing about upper-class student success programs and submit an annual review for division-wide reporting. Engage key stakeholders in regular feedback loops. Utilize university and program assessment to maximize the success and retention of students served by the SSC.Contribute content for the SSC ‘s strategic communication efforts targeting upper-class students, including yield communications, student and family websites, program promotion and recruitment materials, modules, newsletters, and outreach campaigns. Instruct the SSC’s first-year experience course for exploratory and transition students as assigned.Assist with programs and initiatives including targeted outreach efforts and student presentations (including New Student Orientation). Serve on campus committees as requested or appointed. Pursue professional development opportunities focused on improving student success to enhance knowledge, stay informed of evolving research and best practice, and expand effectiveness in this role.Preferred Qualifications Master’s Degree in College Student Personnel, Higher Education Administration, or related field and two years of related work experience.Experience working in a higher education environment/setting is preferred especially with undergraduate programming, assessment, or student services.
