Hose & Tubing Extrusion Machine Operator – Shape the Core of Critical Systems
At Parflex, our extrusion machine operators do more than run equipment — they create the foundation of products that power high-stakes systems across the globe. From aerospace and defense to renewable energy and transportation, your work helps shape precision-engineered hose and tubing used in:
U.S. military vehicles like the JLTV and FMTV
Advanced aircraft such as the F-35 Lightning II and C-130 Hercules
Wind turbine braking systems and hydrogen fuel cell vehicles
High-pressure equipment for construction, oil & gas, and emergency rescue
You’ll work hands-on with advanced thermoplastics and fluoropolymers, monitoring quality and operating extrusion machinery that produces hose with exacting tolerances and world-class durability. Competitive wages:Our entry level Maintenance Operator starts at $22.00 an hour, with a $2.00 per hour shift differenital for working on 2nd shift. In addition to wages, our team members also receive quarterly bonuses, set by company growth and quality goals. This is 2.5%-10% of annual earnings! Schedule and Location: We are located at 1717 Dufek Drive in Manitowoc, WI. Second shift hours are 2:00pm-10:00pm, with a flexible overtime schedule when voluntary or required. Our facility is environmentally controlled 365 days a year. That means team members are comfortable year round, working in air conditioning in the summer and heat in the winter!
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
Sets up and operates thermo-plastic extruders and auxiliary equipment on the extruder line according to engineering specifications; makes immediate corrections where possible.
Utilizes a variety of precision measuring instruments, performing all required testing and recording all pertinent information and ensuring quality standards are met.
Determines appropriate changeover of tooling to ensure proper dimensions according to specifications. Monitors machines and process, reporting irregularities to Lead or Supervisor for problem identification and resolution.
Is responsible for material handling for each assigned process.
Documents, logs, compiles reports as required and/or requested.
Participates in area and process team projects and activities.
Performs or assists with other duties as assigned.
Education, Training and Experience
Required HS diploma or GED;
Machine operation experience in a manufacturing environment preferred
Knowledge and Skills
Mathematical aptitude and proficiency
Keyboarding skills, with some knowledge of MS Office software
Ability to operate forklift and manual and electric jack; Company will train
Measurement skills, including use of precision measuring tools and equipment
Attention to detail, and ability to troubleshoot for process and product improvement
Effective English verbal communication and listening skills
Problem solving skills and ability to work under pressure
Successful prioritizing and management of work projects
Physical Demands
Extended periods of sitting/standing at work station
Squatting, reaching, stretching, twisting, climbing step ladder, eye/hand coordination
Visual acuity, including color differentiation
Use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
Frequent lifting/moving of objects up to 30 lbs, occasional lifting/moving or objects up to 50 lbs.
Must be able to accurately read colors.
Work Environment
Manufacturing plant: Exposure to moving parts on a line, as well as moving equipment throughout the plant
