GENERAL FUNCTION

The Senior Safety Manager will be responsible for executing safety & health policies and procedures across the Luxottica Atlanta campus to ensure compliance to all applicable local, state and Federal regulatory requirements. The Senior Manager will be responsible for establishing relationships with internal business partners to build trust and confidence and influence safety performance improvement. They work to create a culture where employees at all levels understand the importance of these processes and are committed to maintaining a safe and compliant work environment.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Establishes & leads safety culture through evaluating/prioritizing opportunities for improvement, securing buy-in from leadership, supervisors and hourly employees

  • Works with leaders to establish KPIs, educate associates, and monitor performance

  • Leads team of safety staff to provide support to campus on health & safety matters

  • Designs and develops systems, processes, and training for all Health & Safety areas of ownership. Provides safety training to associate and management

  • Partners with off site clinics, HR, department managers, and Corporate Risk Management team on all workers compensation cases

  • Manages development and implementation of health & safety systems, plans, programs, processes and procedures to ensure compliance with applicable regulations, including budgets, project management and performance standards

  • Interprets OSHA regulations, identifies impacts and coordinates appropriate changes to onsite safety program. Prepares and submit reports for OSHA and BLS or any other official agency

  • Implements and maintain safety compliance initiatives in accordance with local, state and Federal regulations. Provides technical expertise and support to site leaders, Human Resource leaders, managers, supervisors and employees

  • Implements safety and ergonomic initiatives. Leads employee teams for continuous improvement including ISO45001.

  • Conducts risk audits/assessments by identifying and assessing potential magnitude of risk and creating contingency plans and following until complete closure escalating to the right level in case of delays or problems

  • Supports incident investigations to drive root cause analysis and corrective actions to prevent recurrence

  • Establishes and maintains relationships with local, state and federal safety & health agencies and represents the Company in resolving incidents and limiting exposure

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelors degree in safety management or related field

  • 8+ years health & safety management experience in a manufacturing or logistics operation

  • Demonstrated ability to manage and complete multiple projects and priorities simultaneously with a high level of accuracy

  • Ability to influence people through strong interpersonal and networking skills at all levels of the organization

  • Results oriented & ability to work in fast paced environment

  • Experience communicating and interacting with safety regulatory agencies

  • Experience in a union environment

  • Ability to analyze information, solve problems, prioritize tasks, and manage time effectively

  • Excellent organization, communication, and interpersonal skills

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Professional/Industrial certifications in a Safety related area (ASP, CSP, ARM, etc.)
