Job Title: Quality Inspector

Job Description

This position requires a candidate who can read and understand blueprints, identify necessary measurements, and interpret specifications. The candidate will utilize mechanical inspection tools daily, such as calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, and height gauges. Operating a CMM is a plus but not a necessity. The ideal candidate has a proactive attitude and is willing to adapt to established inspection processes and ask questions when needed.

Responsibilities

  • Utilize height gauges, pin gauges, calipers, micrometers, and other inspection tools.

  • Inspect and audit products using variable or attribute measuring equipment and record results to ensure conformance with part and customer requirements.

  • Read, interpret, and understand print requirements, including those developed using Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).

  • Understand aerospace, military, and industry specifications along with manufacturing instructions.

  • Conduct conventional inspections using height gauges, calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, and other standard inspection equipment and methodologies.

  • Work with vision systems such as Keyence, CMM, and Zeiss.

  • Perform First Part Buy Off, Receiving, In-Process, Final, and First Article Inspections.

  • Fully understand AS9102 requirements.

  • Analyze CMM reports to determine part acceptance.

  • Communicate effectively across departments and teams (e.g., Engineering, Shop Floor).

  • Review and complete Work Order operations including submissions of nonconforming products.

  • Ensure application of required quality standards and workmanship criteria for in-process/floor inspection product verification and incoming inspection/first article.

  • Conduct or assist in conducting scheduled Shop Audits during normal operating hours to ensure machined parts comply with customer specifications.

  • Follow established departmental policies, procedures, and objectives, continuous quality improvement objectives, and safety and environmental control standards.

  • Ensure proper care in the use and maintenance of equipment and supplies; promote workplace safety.

  • Issue gaging to the Manufacturing Floor.

Essential Skills

  • 2+ years' experience as a quality inspector.

  • Ability to apply skilled mechanical inspection methods (e.g., caliper, micrometer, CMM).

  • Ability to read and interpret work instructions and procedure manuals.

  • High School Diploma or GED.

  • Detail-oriented.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience with ISO 9001 and AS9100 documentation.

  • Ability to read, interpret, and understand print requirements developed using GD&T.

  • Familiarity with various mechanical inspection tools without training (e.g., calipers, micrometers, barometers).

The Quality Manager has an open-door policy and will prioritize helping with any questions and teaching. A new Director of Operations has fostered a team environment where employees are cross-trained and assist where needed. The job-shop environment is very clean and has a team culture. The dress code is casual with closed-toed shoes, no shorts, and PPE required.
