Minimum Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Three years of experience in custodial, housekeeping, groundskeeping, or food service work.
Job Concepts
FUNCTION OF WORK:
To manage custodial operations in order to maintain the cleanliness, sanitary conditions, and appearance of state buildings, facilities, institutions, etc.
LEVEL OF WORK:
Manager.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED:
Broad direction from a higher-level maintenance manager. Other reporting relationships may be approved by SCS.
SUPERVISON EXERCISED:
Direct over Custodian Supervisors. Other reporting relationships may be approved by SCS.
LOCATION OF WORK:
All state agencies.
JOB DISTINCTIONS:
Differs from Custodian Supervisor B by the presence of managerial responsibility for custodial operations.
Examples of Work
EXAMPLES BELOW ARE A BRIEF SAMPLE OF COMMON DUTIES ASSOCIATED WITH THIS JOB TITLE. NOT ALL POSSIBLE TASKS ARE INCLUDED.
Managerial responsibility involves developing policy and procedures, setting performance objectives for the assigned functions, as well as planning, implementing, controlling, and evaluating functions and staff.
Manages the work performed groups of employees providing building cleaning services.
Prepares and assigns work schedules for subordinate employees through subordinate supervisors.
Requisitions and maintains supplies, materials, and equipment necessary to provide service functions. Ensures preventative maintenance is completed as needed.
Researches and compiles managerial reports relating to cost effectiveness of building services and makes recommendations to administrative officials.
Assists administrators with the preparation of service-related budgets.
Maintains personnel and equipment records.
Coordinates with other departments as necessary to ensure quality custodial services are provided.
Confers with vendors on products, equipment, and services as needed to support the agency's custodial operations.
Ensures custodial personnel follow established safety protocols; provides updates to procedures and additional training as needed.
