This role is a hybrid work arrangement. Work schedule to be discussed with the hiring Manager according to the guidelines defined by the department.
Role can be based in Ottawa or Toronto and may consider other locations as well.
Your role
Reporting to the Manager Controller Finance you will be responsible for providing timely reports and rigorous financial analysis, in keeping with the activities of the regional media (French Services). This includes conducting detailed and complex analysis and research of financial information and other non-financial data to support those activities. You will identify opportunities for improvement in existing reports and processes, as well as build new reporting to support the department. This role includes a broad range of financial and non-financial responsibilities and will allow you to get exposure to all areas of the department.
Key Responsibilities:
Prepare and maintain monthly, quarterly and annual Financial Reporting.
Prepare detailed analysis of business operations, including budget variances, recommending and implementing course of action to maintain budget integrity.
Build new reports and develop processes on an ad-hoc basis, while identifying opportunities to improve existing reporting.
Validate claims and approve certain expenses;
Participate in budget planning, allocate budgets, perform analysis and forecasts;
Coordinate, track, control and reconcile program expenditures.
Interpret and enforce policies, standards, methods and recognized accounting practices.
Respond to various ad hoc requests.
We are looking for a candidate with the following:
Accounting Diploma or Degree and/or relevant experience is required.
Active Student of CPA Accounting program or Designation is preferred.
At least 3 years experience demonstrating growth and/or advancement in complexity, difficulty, or level of responsibility. - Advanced proficiency in - Advanced proficiency in Excel and other MS Office applications. SAP, BW, TM1, Google workspace and Workday experience is an asset. - Self-starter and team-player with the ability to work under minimal supervision.
Excellent organizational skills and ability to multitask.
Superior investigative and analytical skills with the ability to identify and implement strategies for improvement. - Ability to set priorities and balance competing business needs within budgetary restrictions and reporting deadlines. - Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills (oral and written), across all levels of staff and management.
Experience working in a diverse and inclusive environment.
