Your role

This is a permanent, hybrid role.

As Senior Manager, Content Planning, Management and Acquisition, you help shape the editorial vision for Radio-Canada’s Kids’ and Youth offering as part of the MAJ project. You supervise a production team and oversee video production and scripted content development, from initial ideation to final broadcast.

Your key tasks:

  • Demonstrate positive leadership in managing a production team in a unionized environment.

  • Supervise assignments aligned with MAJ project objectives, managing them from start to finish in conjunction with the relevant people on the team.

  • Apply your critical skills to enhance, fine-tune and suggest content that will generate traffic and keep users engaged on MAJ platforms.

  • Develop communities of young people by producing engaging content that resonates with the everyday experiences of the target audience.

  • Stay current on digital content production trends and develop a distinctive offering in line with each platform.

  • Network and expand the reach of content created for teachers and educational counsellors.

  • Guide choices and decisions in line with the public broadcaster’s values and mandate to inform young Canadians.

  • Appreciate the importance of reflecting contemporary Canada (equity, diversity and inclusion) in your editorial decisions.

  • Manage a production budget and understand the financial issues involved. Engage with Business & Rights as needed.

  • Reach out to and work with all Radio-Canada departments to optimize the impact of MAJ productions and content discoverability.

  • Foster connections across Radio-Canada departments (News, Communications, Promotion, Partnerships, Social Media, TV and Digital) to ensure that initiatives are effectively carried out and supported.

  • Supervise in-house staff in connection with your assigned projects (digital editors, reporter, video editor, illustrator and producer).

We are looking for a candidate with the following:

  • University degree in a related field or any other combination deemed equivalent

  • Two (2) years’ relevant experience managing a team

  • Five (5) to seven (7) years of recent youth content production experience

  • Advanced knowledge of digital production

  • Ability to work well under pressure

  • Outstanding communication and co-ordination skills

  • Strong understanding of the digital industry and the challenges of producing news for younger audiences

  • Good knowledge of CBC/Radio-Canada’s programming, strategic direction and workplace culture

  • Flexibility to work beyond normal office hours
