Position Overview:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Senior Accountant to manage our CTE accounting department. This role is vital in overseeing all funds received to support our CTE programs, ensuring accurate reporting, and maintaining robust internal control procedures in line with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
Key Responsibilities:
Manage financial data and assist in the creation and maintenance of the CTE budget.
Analyze and maintain all funds received to support CTE, meeting regularly with CTE personnel to review and recommend appropriate budget levels and ensure compliance.
Collaborate with various college departments in the preparation, analysis, and tracking of federal, state, and local funding to ensure budget and expenditure control.
Compile and analyze accounting information and related system reports for accuracy and completeness.
Perform general ledger account reconciliations and analysis on a timely basis, including cash accounts, receivables, payroll, liabilities, and fixed assets.
Identify and recommend improvements for accounting procedures, workflow, processes, and internal controls.
Assist in the preparation of work papers, footnotes, and financial statements for the annual audit report.
Perform related duties and other supporting tasks as required or assigned.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in accounting or a related field, or equivalent education and experience.
Three years of accounting experience, with a preference for experience in higher education, fund accounting, and grants.
Strong accounting background, including experience in account reconciliation, financial analysis, and assisting with year-end audits.
Flexibility and adaptability to a rapidly changing environment.
Detail-oriented with the ability to maintain composure under pressure and prioritize multiple tasks.
Demonstrated analytical ability and strong organizational and communication skills.
Experience in fiscal record-keeping involving complex policies and procedures.
Experience reviewing transactions for accuracy and monitoring financial progress.
