Position Description
This Civil-Service position performs complex professional-level administrative services for the Library Director. Performs and coordinates a variety of duties essential to the operation of the Nashville Public Library in support of the Director. Employees in this classification routinely handle vital information which may be confidential in nature. Will serve as the lead for a variety of operations, data analysis, and data evaluation efforts system wide. Performs other duties assigned.

Typical Duties
Performs day-to-day administrative details on behalf of the Director.
Serves as an internal and external liaison and coordinates the flow of information to and from the Director’s Office and other parties.
Develops agenda items and/or takes and distributes minutes of meetings.
Plans and conducts a variety of special administrative projects and studies for the Director.
Researches and gathers relevant statistical data, which may be of a confidential nature used in yearly planning, decision-making, and the strategic planning process.
Collects and analyzes statistical, survey, demographic, and other data from various organizations and sources to create specific demographic profiles and forecasts, and to ensure appropriate Library response to community needs.
Develops and disseminates library statistics or performance metrics for use by management and stakeholders to support strategic goals.
Answers queries and submits required reporting to local, state, federal, and stakeholders such as the Foundation.
Supervises administrative receptionist.
Minimum Qualifications
High School Diploma or equivalent plus ten (10) years of experience in an administrative or statistical analysis related field.

Valid Driver License may be required for some positions in this classification.

Note: Per Metro Ordinance No. SO94-1078. All employees of the Metropolitan Government shall be residents of the State of Tennessee or become residents of the state within six (6) months of employment as a prerequisite to employment with the Metropolitan Government.
Preferred Experience, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Experience working with GIS Data systems
Skill collecting, interpreting and disseminating data in an accurate and effective manner
Proficiency with Microsoft Office and other administrative based software
Experience analyzing and resolving problems using research and data analysis
Bilingual language skills

Metro offers a generous core benefit package to eligible employees who are regularly and consistently working 20 or more hours per week. Insurance and benefit coverage is effective the first of the month after the employee has worked 30 days.
