Description
The CNC Programming Manager will play a pivotal role in overseeing and optimizing the CNC programming operations, with a specific focus on multi-axis and simultaneous 5-axis programming and machining. Will l ead a team of skilled programmers responsible for developing, maintaining, and improving CNC programs to drive efficiency, quality, and innovation in our manufacturing processes.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage a team of CNC programmers, providing guidance, mentoring, and technical expertise.
- Develop and implement strategic initiatives to enhance CNC programming capabilities, productivity, and efficiency.
- Collaborate closely with engineering, production, and quality assurance departments to ensure seamless integration of CNC programs into manufacturing processes.
- Optimize CNC programs for machining efficiency, cycle time reduction, and quality improvement.
- Review and approve CNC programs, ensuring adherence to technical specifications, safety standards, and quality requirements for 5-axis machining.
- Collaborate with manufacturing engineering, operations, and planning to provide input for new work opportunities (quoting).
- Conduct regular performance evaluations of team members and provide constructive feedback for skills development and career growth.
- Stay updated with industry trends, advancements in CNC technology, and programming techniques to continuously improve team competencies.
- Implement best practices and standard operating procedures (SOPs) for CNC programming and machining operations.
- Coordinate with quality and production teams to ensure availability and reliability of CNC programs and tooling for machining.
- Foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement within the CNC programming team, focusing on advanced machining techniques.
- Troubleshoot and resolve machining issues, ensuring minimal downtime.
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree with 5 or more years of relevant experience or equivalent combination ofeducation and experience.
- Experience in CNC programming.
- Experience in CNC machining.
- Proven experience in a leadership or managerial role.
- Extensive knowledge of machining processes, tooling, materials, and GDandT principles.
- Strong proficiency in CAD/CAM software (CATIA V5) and CNC machine controls (Siemens 840D).
- Strong project management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Working familiarity with CATIA (CAD-CAM), Vericut simulation software, and ICAM post processing
- Experience with lean manufacturing and continuous improvement methodologies.
- Knowledge of AS9100 quality standards.
- Familiarity with MES and ERP systems
