Air Combat Command Accounting Technician in Nellis AFB, Nevada
Summary About the position: This position will be assigned to the NAF Accounting Office on Nellis AFB, NV. Regular Full Time Employees are guaranteed 35 hours per week, but may work up to 40 hours per week. This position offers benefits. Responsibilities Performs a full range of accounting duties using double-entry accrual accounting methods. Classifies and verifies a wide variety of accounting documents to ensure their mathematical correctness, completeness of information, and to prepare control sheets with appropriate accounting codes. Maintains double-entry bookkeeping journals and subsidiary ledgers, posting entries to establish accounts. Prepares monthly balances, reconciles accounts, and transcribes to general ledger for closeout of all accounts. Traces discrepancies, if necessary, to posting documents, computes operational expenses incurred by individual activities for accounting services provided, and assigns charges appropriately. Reports prepared may include profit and loss statements, financial statements, and miscellaneous financial reporting data. When the situation warrants, incumbent accomplishes NAF payroll clerk duties. Creates and initiates biweekly payment of liabilities, provides assistance to timekeepers and NAF management personnel on payroll related problems, processes information for unemployment request, and maintains workers compensation case files. Performs Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT) for employees with direct deposit through an authorized Air Force Agent. Verifies all pay action documents, processes payroll checks, and completes all other related reports. Provides Time Management and NAF Payroll Systems training on an as required basis, at the direction of the supervisor. Qualifying Experience: Experience in work which provided comprehensive knowledge of fund accounting methods, procedures, and techniques used in maintaining and analyzing all classes of accounts in accounting system encompassing several diversified activities; ability to prepare financial settlements and reports. Knowledge and understanding of the regulations, guides, and precedents sufficient to interpret and apply them in a variety of accounting situations. Knowledge of the accounting system sufficient to flow individual funds and specific monies from initiation through expenditure stages to trace discrepancies in the system. Must possess the ability to work with automated, computerized accounting program. Must have experience in Microsoft Excel. Education Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. This position does not allow for education substitution. Additional Information Individual must fully meet qualification/eligibility/background requirements for this position.
