The Team Leader (Machining) is responsible for assisting the Production Supervisor with all tasks to meet safety, quality, delivery, and production goals for the Machine Shop. The work schedule is Monday thru Friday, 6:30 AM to 3:00 PM, and overtime, including weekends, is routine.
This position requires access to export-controlled commodities, technical data, technology, software, and services. U.S. citizenship, U.S. legal permanent resident status, protected person status, or U.S. Government export authorization is required. Any offer of employment is contingent upon Pall obtaining the necessary employment visa and export authorization, including, if required, an export license from the applicable U.S. government agency.
In this role, you will have the opportunity to:
Lead a team of machinists and set-up the work area for success, daily. Delegate tasks to associates as needed. Mentor, coach and train co-workers. Ensure that co-workers are trained in the various processes and procedures. Perform Kamishibai daily.
Set-up and operate CNC Mills and Lathes, or Manual Mills and/or Lathes. Assist in the selection of tools, holding fixtures, and methods for producing machined parts. Change worn tooling. Change off sets as necessary to maintain quality. Perform in-process inspection using precision measuring tools and blueprints. Touch off or qualify any tooling in the machine without assistance. Effectively perform secondary operations (i.e. set-up and operation on simple machines or processes including drill press, stamping press, deburring, etc.). Deburr parts during the machine cycle. Check first piece and work during the operation of the part and make cutting tool offset adjustments to ensure parts are machined to specifications. Use various manual inspection equipment (i.e. gauges and automated CMMs).
Build prototypes interfacing with Engineering and Programming. Read and understand all types of drawings required to machine parts such as castings, forgings, and detailed engineering sketches. Read and understand CNC G-Code programs, basic work instructions, and specifications. Prove out new set-ups. Read and interpret CNC program to recognize and make changes to rectify excessive tool wear and minor program oversights. Identify new ways to machine parts to improve quality and productivity. Troubleshoot complex tooling and programming issues. Promptly report all tooling or program problems to supervisor. Maintain all paperwork and company records associated with producing the part.
The essential requirements of the job include:
High School Diploma or equivalent (i.e. GED). Completed Trade School Apprenticeship program or a minimum of seven (7) years of CNC set-up experience.
Five (5) years of experience operating at least 3 axis machining and above; CNC G-Code programs. Good understanding of quality measures, AQL levels and inspection methods.
Good working knowledge of shop math (i.e. algebra, geometry, trigonometry, and GD&T). Good understanding of computers, CNC equipment, CNC controls, and tool offsets. Experienced in interpreting tool and part drawings including but not limited to geometrical tolerancing and manually calculated dimensions. Work overtime as assigned, including weekends.
Travel, Motor Vehicle Record & Physical/Environment Requirements:
- Ability to bend, lift, stand, sit, and twist for long periods of time and required lifting weight: 35 pounds. • Lifting frequency: Daily. Able to load parts using hand tools.
