Mixlab Compounding Pharmacy Manager in New York, New York

Mixlab, the fast-growing veterinary compounding pharmacy, is hiring for a Compounding Pharmacist to serve as Lab Manager for our New York compounding lab. We are looking for a leader who is obsessed with details and are driven by an ability to #makeithappen for our customers and their furry (or scaly!) friends no matter what. You will be an integral part in helping us to ensure our LA operation run smoothly, and to make Mixlab a 100% dependable resource for our customers and veterinarians alike.

This is a full-time, salary role with a base compensation of $135,000-155,000 per year. Pay is determined by individual qualifications, licensure, experience, and skillset.

OPERATIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Rotate operational duties with the other pharmacy leaders. Duties include:

  • Run daily am or pm stand ups

  • Move staff as needed to hit daily goals; record staffing

  • Handle any exceptions, urgent orders

  • Monitor Productivity and Quality Metrics

  • Smooth operational bottlenecks with supporting teams (Care, Logistics)

  • Communicate updates and changes to the department

  • Point person for the compounding lab to ensure we meet quality and productivity expectations

  • Compound non-sterile pharmaceutical preparations, including but not limited to the compounding of capsules, tablets, oral liquids and topical medications.

  • Compound medications, fill and label prescriptions, and package medications

  • Keep accurate records and monitor inventory levels in accordance with USP 795, State Board of Pharmacy regulations and company policies and procedures

PEOPLE RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage a team of compounding technicians and leads

  • Conduct monthly check ins with direct reports to review performance goals, discuss career pathing, and general progress

  • Coach and train team members through shadowing sessions

  • Review and approve timecards, time off requests, and expense reimbursements

  • Interview for new pharmacy team members

PROJECT-BASED RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Conduct as needed root cause analysis on quality and process breakdowns

  • Work with PIC, other leads or departments on pharmacy specific or cross functional process improvement projects

  • Represent the LA pharmacy on seasonal and special projects along with participating on any standing meetings

  • Research new formulas, ingredients, equipment and products

  • Maintain at least three out of state license on the Mixlab Desired Licenses list

ABOUT YOU

  • You have 2-4 years experience managing people in a compound pharmacy

  • You have 3-5 years experience a pharmacist in a compounding lab

  • You have a customer-focused (and in our case, a pet-focused!) mindset

  • You thrive in a fast-paced work environment

  • You are a NY-licensed pharmacist, in good standing with the NY State Board of Pharmacy. Additional state licenses a plus!

  • You have excellent communication skills - both written and verbal - and are a collaborative, team-player

  • You have an all-hands-on-deck attitude with an ability to remain calm and excel under pressure

  • You have the ability to learn and adapt to new processes and procedures

  • You constantly strive to “wow” clients and patients

  • You have a strong sense of ownership and accountability

  • You are scrappy and resourceful

  • You’re not afraid of wearing multiple hats - you pitch in to help the team when necessary

  • You have flexibility to work nights, weekends, and holidays

Pay ranges at Mixlab are based on competitive market data for our industry and company size. In addition to base pay, our total compensation package for full-time employees includes benefits and equity. We determine individual pay based on qualifications for the role, experience level, and skillset, and we expect offers made to candidates to fall throughout the range advertised.
