Job Summary

This role contributes to Shake Shack’s success by leading an internal team and managing external consultants to create outstanding designs that uphold the Shake Shack experience and brand. The role is inclusive of all phases of design from due diligence through construction documents and administration with responsibility for budget, schedule, and maintaining brand identity. 

Job Responsibilities and Duties

  • End-to-end design project management for all new restauran ts ; contribute to Development Team by delivering on , or exceeding the established Team goals and deliverables for all new restaurants

  • Manages the production of design and construction documents by internal designers and external consultants (Architects, MEP Engineers, Kitchen Equipment, Structural and Civil Engineers)

  • Provides direction for design issues and resolves directly with external partners and cross functional teams as needed

  • Participates in due diligence reviews and administers design consultant surveys and survey reports

  • Financial management, d esign fee es timating , forecasting, and analysis

  • C ontract negotiation and administration

  • Leads landlord coordination throughout the design phase

  • Maintains brand standards , including through ownership of Design Directives

  • Contribute to Design Integration Team goals by achieving target deliverables   

  • Manages and Mentors other Design Team members, challenges and inspires them to achieve business results , as well as enabling individual and brand growth. 

  • Manages relationships with consultants to ensure compliance of services, budget, and schedule

  • Conducts site visits and attends punch walks as needed

    Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

  • Highly organized , high sense o f urgency, and self-motivated individual with excellent project management skills

  • Expert written and verbal communicator

  • Ability to manage and execute multiple projects (20-30/year) under tight deadlines

  • Strong design sensibility with knowledge of industry trends, color and architectural design practices and principles

  • Working knowledge of mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and civil engineering principles.

  • Proficiency in Bluebeam , AutoCAD, and Excel is required

  • Proficiency in Smartsheet is preferred

  • Passion for the brand and dedicated to seeing their designs come to life in a thoughtful and practical way

  • Domestic travel required

    Requirements - Education, Experience, Physical, and Competencies

    Education Requirements : ​ Bachelor's Degree ​

    Education or Certificate Details : Degree in Architecture, Interior Design, Engineering, or Related Field

    Work Experienc e : ​ 4-6 years ​

    Supervisory Experience : ​ 1-3 years ​

    Related Experience

  • 6 + years of related work experience for a restaurant, hospitality, retail design, or development organization

  • 4 + years of experience managing design professionals

  • Experience with landlord and work letter coordination

  • Experience with site entitlements and presenting at Architectural Review Boards

Pay Range - $118,595.00 - $151,245.00
