Job Title: Heavy Equipment Mechanic
Job Description
Diagnose and repair issues in diesel engines. Diagnose and repair issues with hydraulics, brakes, transmission, steering, and other systems. Perform preventative maintenance on heavy equipment such as dozers, excavators, and heavy haul trucks. Perform welding or fabrication tasks on equipment as necessary. Prepare work orders and order parts. Fuel equipment and maintain daily logs. Maintain a clean and orderly work area and meet other housekeeping needs. Perform additional assignments as needed.
Responsibilities

Essential Skills

Additional Skills & Qualifications
Minimum of 3 - 5 years experience in the heavy construction industry
Diesel technician or mechanic degree a plus
Welding experience a plus

Work Environment
This job requires working outdoors from Monday to Saturday, with 10-12 hour days. You must be able to perform physical activities that require considerable use of your arms, legs, and moving your whole body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling of materials.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Norfolk, Virginia.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $35.00/hr.
