Massachusetts State Job Bank Foreman Carpenter in North Eastham, Massachusetts

A Foremen Carpenter should have the leadership skills to run a crew, building everything from a small addition to a complete house. Foremen should be willing & able to train their crew of journeymen, apprentice, & laborer carpenters with the techniques to make them better craftsmen. They should be well organized & able to communicate easily & effectively with team members, subcontractors, & designers. The foreman organizes the work & coordinates the various aspects of construction. They should be able to meet quality standards, cost requirements, & project time schedules. Responsibilities: Coordinating daily tasks according to priorities & plans, making changes when necessary due to weather, supply, delivery, & personnel. Delegating individual responsibilities & projects to crew members & contractors. Managing & mentoring employees & contractors. Providing adequate resources to meet project schedules, laws, regulations, best practices, & safety needs. Emphasizing safe use of tools, machinery & equipment while providing training on safety gear, helmets, & procedures Reading & interpreting building plans. Must be able to complete work abiding by national, state, & local codes, including safety regulations. Constructing & installing wooden structures including but not limited to framework, stairways, rafters, doors, windows, trim, railings, & built ins. Must be able to accurately measure & cut materials appropriately. Collaborate with team members to ensure that the project is running smoothly. Ability to notify Project Manager of any issues that may arise. Work independently without much instruction. Must have own tools & reliable transportation. Must have a strong attention to detail. Requirements: 5 plus years of prior experience. A valid Driver?s License & reliable transportation. Own a full set of tools. OSHA 10, OSHA 30, & Construction Supervisor License. Must be able to lift 80 lbs. Strong leadership skills & ability to manage a team. Strong attention to detail & a strong commitment to high quality of work. Excellent written & verbal communication skills. Capable of working long hours in harsh weather conditions. Good math & problem-solving skills. Physical Requirements: Ability to lift, carry, push, & pull 80 pounds. Physically fit & able to perform various tasks that include standing, climbing, lifting, walking, reaching, crawling, etc.
