The production Coordinator is responsible for all function of operations management related to day-to-day staffing and production issues of a chemical manufacturing facility. Ensures that all operations management processes adhere to site, corporate and governmental regulations. he incumbent encourages operations involvement in all HES corporate initiatives. As the responsible party for personnel coordination, the position will be included in "on-call" rotation to assist with off-hours issues. As part of the site leadership team the incumbent works to enhance operating units and efficiency.

This position is located in a chemical manufacturing facility with all the inherent risks. The union plant runs on a 24/7 basis.

Activities may include:

Production Activities and Responsibilities

  • Schedule overtime as necessary to achieve efficient completion of the production schedule at minimum cost.

  • Maintains time sheet records and ensures that timesheet software is accurate and submitted on time every two weeks.

  • Ensures employees remain up to date on all training requirements. Train operators following incidents or as part of a refresher training program. Assess operator competence following employment and on an ongoing basis.

  • Understands the Union Contracts and ensures adherence to the contract with all plant activities; issues discipline as needed with support of plant manager.

  • Work with local and BU teams to optimize operations and communicate daily production activities to ensure Plant/BU goals are achieved safely, efficiently, and within budget.

  • Work with local maintenance team to plan maintenance activities impacting the production schedule

  • Develop basic understanding of all powder coating process technology, equipment, and process control technology utilized at North Kansas City Plant to ensure plant operates in safe and legal manner.

  • Reviews production schedule and prepare/distribute batch packets; confirm batches upon completion

  • Troubleshoot production related challenges with leadership team to develop best possible solutions

  • Reports all near misses and incidents; participates in RCI investigations to prevent repeat production/safety upsets.

  • Develop, write, and implement new operating procedures; Review and revise existing operating procedures related to production activities on a regular basis

  • Maintain and ensure compliance with all plant policies and safety requirements including PUP, PPE and other

  • Manage plant supplies, completing ordering and payment. As needed, provides purchasing expertise in SAP for plant wide projects.

  • Provide primary BACKUP for planning operations and SAP transactions in the absence of the logistics leader.

  • Serves as Incident Commander during plant emergencies if Plant Manager and HSE leader are absent.

  • Serves as acting plant manager when Plant Manager and HES Leader are absent

  • Other duties as requested

    HR Responsibilities

  • Supports compliance with AIMS, ISO9001 and ISO45001 policies and standards.

  • Supports all pre-hire requirements and serves as coordinator for new hire onboarding process at NKC

  • Supports NKC leadership team with AIMS Element 2 documentation for tracking, managing, and coordination of HR audit materials to maintain compliance with Arkema policies and regulatory agencies.

  • Serves as AIMS Element 3 coordinator for the NKC leadership team by providing timely, accurate, and effective written communication to support the needs of both internal parties (employees) and external parties (community, customer, regulatory, etc.)

  • Coordinates Dashboard Pillar 6 (people systems) for the NKC site

  • First point of contact for all HR related questions; works closely with Regional HR Manager

  • Manages operators’ vacation and sick time requests and confirms correct accounting of hours worked via the time clock system.

  • Maintains HR data and files

  • Administers Disability/FMLA cases and coordinates return to work.

    Administrative Elements

  • Supports SAP requisitioning and invoice processing site wide

  • Prepares and releases blanket and individual requisitions through SAP

  • Order miscellaneous supplies for the plant/maintenance department (using P-card)

  • Provides general administrative support for all office personnel as needed

  • Key organizer for plant meetings and site functions, including arranging facilities and caterers

  • Arranges meals/catering for classes, meetings and special events.

  • Serves as backup payroll coordinator for NKC;

  • The successful candidate will have:

  • high school diploma or equivalent

  • 5 years experience in batch or semi-batch processes in a manufacturing plant.

  • Previous experience with Arkema systems and processes strongly preferred

  • SAP knowledge particularly production accounting modules

  • Intermediate computer skills

  • Innovation and problem solving

  • Skilled in handling multiple tasks, organizing and planning

  • Skilled in oral and written communications

  • Ability to work with little supervision

  • Ability to assess and resolve emergencies and to develop contingency plans under stressful situations.

  • Acts professionally and calmly at all times

  • Able to influence others without formal authority

  • Quick learner with solid understanding of good manufacturing practices
