The Accounting Clerk will perform a variety of accounting responsibilities within the Accounting Department to include managing and maintaining Association accounts and assets, accounts payable, and report preparation. Perform accounting research as needed. Provide prompt and courteous service to all departments. ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: Daily balancing of internal Association accounts, including, but not limited to, Association Bank Check and Money Orders, the Federal Reserve Bank, the Federal Home Loan Bank, Cash accounts, income and expense accounts, etc. Prepare supporting documentation for internal committees as well as third-party audits/reviews. Prepare month-end journal entries and balance General Ledgers monthly. Review and reconcile internal accounts, as part of the department's overall General Ledger (GL) certification process, on a recurring basis. Record, monitor and maintain association fixed assets, prepaids, and suspense accounts. Maintain the Accounts Payable and Corporate Credit Card process for the association. Assist in preparing and filing regulatory reports, including, but not limited to, taxes, Public Funds, etc. Perform accounting research as needed. Provide backup duties in the absence of other accounting staff. Follow all Association policies and procedures. Other duties as assigned. Requirements KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITY REQUIREMENTS: Working knowledge of accounting basics. Excellent interpersonal communication skills. Organizational skills and flexibility to adapt to a fluctuating workload. Proficient in the entire suite of Microsoft products, especially in Excel and Word. Analyze, gather, organize, and compile numerical data into reports. Exercise customer confidentiality and discretionary judgment. Read, write, speak, and understand English well. QUALIFICATIONS: High school diploma, GED or equivalent skills. Accounting experience and/or degree preferred Must be bondable PHYSICAL DEMANDS & WORK ENVIRONMENT/CONDITIONS: Duties are performed in usual office conditions. Ability to operate standard office equipment including personal computer standard keyboard, 10-key calculator and work a standard shift with repetitive wrist and hand movements. Ability to talk and hear. Ability to stand or sit for extended periods of time. Occasionally lift, move or carry items up to 15 lbs. Ability to concentrate on the matter at hand, under sometimes distracting work conditions. Requires manual dexterity and handling ability. Use hands and arms to finger, handle, grab and reach. Specific vision abilities including close vision and the ability to adjust focus. Work may involve eyestrain due to constant use of computer screens. Occasional walking, kneeling, stooping, crouching, and bending. Ability to be mobile office-wide for various business needs.
