Washington State Job Bank legal assistant / case manager in Olympia, Washington
We are seeking a Legal Assistant for our busy Social Security Law Practice to become a part of our team! You will provide shared support to one attorney. You will be individually responsible for assisting the attorney with case management of social security disability cases at various stages of the adjudication process. The work week will be between 35-40 hours a week, depending on the needs of the firm and the applicant. Hours per week will be firmed up prior to starting the position.
Responsibilities:
- New client intake (phone or in person).
- File preparation and closure.
- Assist with the drafting and reviewing of legal documents, forms, and letters.
- Electronically submit evidence.
- Processing scanned mail and faxes daily.
- Shared responsibility for answering phones and assisting clients.
- Record and store client information, phone calls, and documents.
- Prepare/file online appeals.
- Secure medical opinions.
- Maintain attorney calendar for appointments, hearings, deadlines, etc.
- Case Management.
- Contact via phone, email, and in person with clients and government agencies.
- Process client payments, creating cost invoices.
- Other tasks as assigned.
?Qualifications:
- Previous experience as a legal assistant desirable, but not required (willing to train).
- Ability to prioritize competing demands and multitask.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Deadline and detail-oriented.
- Ability to maintain client confidentiality.
- Ability to follow written office procedures.
- Ability to work harmoniously with co-workers in a small office.
- Ability to work with low income/no income clients with physical and/or mental disabilities with patience, respect, and dignity.
- Ability to work independently.
- Ability to maintain professional demeanor at all times.
