Oneida City School District Food Server in Oneida, New York
The Oneida City School District is hiring for a Food Service Helper. This is routine manual work performed under immediate supervision in connection with the preparation and serving of food and maintaining sanitary condition of kitchen and equipment. Food Service Helpers may on occasion perform cooking duties involving lesser degrees of skill than regularly required of employees in the classification of Cook. Does related work as required.
Typical work duties: Serves food, sets tables and clears them after meals. Fills sugar bowls and salt and pepper shakers. Polishes silverware, tables and chairs. Cleans dish and linen closets. Cleans, washes and otherwise prepares vegetables and fruit for cooking. Assists in the preparation of salads and desserts. Washes dishes, pots and pans by hand or machine. Sweeps, mops and cleans kitchen and dining hall. May act as a relief cook. May act as cashier. In addition, the candidate may: Assist in the food count for production sheets, help prepare trays for serving of food, pours beverages and prepares liquid supplements for trays, delivers and picks up trays, may serve trays and may assist in preparing and serving food.
Full performance, skills and abilities and personal characteristics: Working knowledge of the proper methods of serving food and of the care of tableware, glassware, silver, and kitchen appliances; practical working knowledge of modern cleaning methods and the use of cleaning supplies and appliances; ability to follow verbal and written directions; physical condition commensurate with the demands of the position.
Minimum Requirements: Must be over 18 years of age.
