Team & Job Overview
The Digital & Technology Solutions (DTS) group under the leadership of the Chief Information Officer was established in 2023 with the mission of empowering our customers and colleagues to take on the world, by seamlessly delivering secure and reliable digital experiences. Digital & Technology Solutions has set out to achieve the following objectives for EDC:
Define, execute, and sustain the integrated technology target state, target data model and technology operations required to enable EDC’s 2030 business transformation.
Establish and manage the rolling 3 Year Digital Roadmap that sequences the technology outcomes required to achieve the technology target state and facilitate its execution across all domains in the organization.
Keep pace with industry trends and emerging technologies, ensuring EDC has access to the digital technology tools it needs to stay relevant in the market and grow Canadian global trade.
Lead and ensure integrated digital, data, infrastructure, and cybersecurity implementations to create excellent customer, user, and employee experiences.
Reporting to the Director, IT Operations and Platform Support, the successful candidate will be a key player in shaping the infrastructure that supports our Network. You will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining the organization's network infrastructure to ensure a high-performing, secure, and reliable network environment. You will oversee the management of critical networking services including switches, routers, firewalls, VPNs, while ensuring network uptime and security are maintained at the highest standards. You will work closely with internal teams and vendors to troubleshoot and resolve network issues, oversee system upgrades, and implement improvements. Additionally, you will monitor network performance, manage disaster recovery processes, and develop strategies to support the company's evolving network needs. This position requires strong technical expertise in network technologies and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment to support the organization's overall goals.
Key Responsibilities
Lead the network platform team with strong vision and foster collaboration and excellence.
Oversee daily network operations to ensure optimal performance and reliability.
Set performance and quality standards for the network. Monitor services to meet SLAs and efficiency. Maintain high network uptime. Develop and execute improvement strategies, including patch updates.
Implement/enhance new network capabilities and services to meet business needs.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align network strategies with business goals.
Stay current with industry trends and advancements, particularly in Cisco Software Defined Networking (SDN).
Ensure the platform meets high standards of reliability, performance, and security.
Identify and mitigate potential risks and vulnerabilities within the network infrastructure.
Screening Criteria
University degree or college diploma in computer science or a related field.
Minimum of 7 years’ experience in network administration and support, with experience in LAN/WAN routing, switching, firewalls, Wi-Fi, network security, and troubleshooting network hardware and services.
Minimum of 3 years’ experience in Software-Defined Networking (SDN) administration and support, with experience in programmatic network configuration and troubleshooting.
Minimum of 3 years’ experience in cloud networking services (Azure, AWS, or Google) and networking in hybrid cloud environments.
Experience in Governance, Risk, and Compliance (GRC), with experience in (CIS, NIST, or ISO) auditing and compliance attestation.
Experience in ITSM, with experience in Service Design, Service Transition, Service Operation, Continual Service Improvement
Assets
Certifications: Cisco (CCNA/CCNP), MS Azure, ITIL Foundations
Experience in the following technologies: Cisco Application Centric Infrastructure (ACI), Cisco Catalyst (DNA) Center, Cisco SD-WAN
Bilingual in both official languages (French and English)
Compensation Details:
- Product Owner 18: Salaries typically range from $94,664 to $126,219 annually, based on qualifications and experiences, plus a performance-based incentive.
Location
Export Development Canada is a hybrid work environment.
This role may be performed from EDC’s headquarters in Ottawa, or from the Community Hub in Toronto, Mississauga, Montreal, Laval, Brossard, Halifax, Calgary or Vancouver.
