Healthy Pantry Initiative Educator
Job Summary : The Educator will be responsible for the delivery of the Healthy Pantry Initiative (HPI) program in designated FBSJ service area. The Healthy Pantry Initiative program aims to provide strategies and tools for health promotion to food pantries. The HPI Health and Wellness Educator will be supervised by the Health and Wellness Senior Manager.
This is a full-time, in-person position. The pay rate is $28/hour. Work is 35 hours (paid)/week with a one-hour lunch break (unpaid). The position requires daytime, weekend and evening work. Work hours are in-person and primarily during the day but include approximately two evenings per week and two Saturdays per month. In-person work will be at our main site in Pennsauken, New Jersey and at community sites throughout Burlington, Camden, Gloucester and Salem counties.

Hourly Rate: $28 an hour
Duties and Responsibilities:
Execute health and wellness classes and healthy cooking demonstrations for the Healthy Pantry Initiative program within the FBSJ target areas
Maintain and track cooking equipment, educational materials and incentives
Maintain paper files and database for accurate recordkeeping and timely reporting
Develop educational tools, including PowerPoint presentations and flyers
Identify health and wellness education resources and materials
Assist in recruitment and outreach efforts
Attend training for program and professional development
May assist in training Nutrition Assistants, volunteers and interns in the delivery of classes and demonstrations
May assist with class scheduling and staffing
May assist with food and supply ordering, receiving, sorting and delivery
Local travel within the FBSJ service area is required
Work on special projects and other duties as assigned for the Health and Wellness Department.
Skills & Abilities
Highly organized, flexible, adaptable and able to multi-task
Proactive in asking for help when needed and willingness to learn
Ability to work evenings and weekends
Independent worker, self-starter and works well with a team and on his/her own
Comfortable speaking in front of groups
Excellent proficiency in using Zoom and Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel and PowerPoint
Detail oriented, excellent record keeping and time management skills
Comfortable working with and can effectively communicate with people of diverse backgrounds and opinions
Ability to safely lift 35 pounds
Ability to use personal vehicle to travel and transport equipment, food and class materials
Qualification and Experience:
College degree in human services, health, nutrition, education or related area required
Experience in working with diverse groups required
Experience and comfort with using online platforms to meet, present and teach
Knowledge of office management and proficiency in administrative tasks
Current driver’s license
Access to reliable transportation and ability to carry and transport equipment and supplies
Experience and comfort in working in a nonprofit environment
Knowledge of common adult and child learning theories/models preferred
Knowledge of common behavior change theories/models preferred
Bilingual preferred
