Maintenance Supervisor

This Supervisor manages a work group providing guidance and direction to vocational employees and may work with other professional employees to ensure the completion of preventive maintenance, overhaul, repair and construction of piping, process piping systems, instrument control systems, electrical systems, foundations, supports and mechanical equipment in the LNG Plants and natural gas facilities as well as associated peripheral natural gas Metering and Regulating Stations. The incumbent updates and maintains equipment maintenance history files including records of inspections, tests, repairs, etc. on a Computerized Work Management System. In addition, this Supervisor conducts work force planning, coaching, training, budget preparations, expense control and other administrative duties and is responsible for the overall quality of work for the group. Impact of decisions will be measurable within one month.

Responsibilities

GPD Maintenance Management

Generate work productivity and pertinent equipment information reports; reviews and analyzes records to forecast schedule personnel requirements, support services, mobile equipment and material for maintenance projects related to assigned shop.

Maintain, review, and analyze equipment maintenance histories to determine root cause of equipment maintenance requirements; makes recommendations for changing equipment maintenance practices and procedures to reduce costs and increase reliability.

Develop and implement preventive maintenance schedules, detailed maintenance, overhaul, and testing procedures for plant equipment.

Ensure that safe utilization of all shop equipment and tools and closely supervises the activities of all craft personnel to ensure that safe work practices are employed in the completion of maintenance activities.

Personnel Management

Coordinate subordinate work activities by developing project timelines, milestones and analyzing impact, determining priorities of activities, making work assignments, monitoring projects, and providing direction and assistance as needed.

Assess employee needs ensuring subordinates are properly trained and adhere to company policies, practices and procedures including collective bargaining agreement when applicable; participates in the selection process of new employees.

Evaluate and meets with subordinates to discuss work performance providing appropriate commendations and disciplinary actions to ensure employees are well equipped to meet and/or exceed job expectations.

Finance & Accounting

Provide cost effective suggestions for process improvements to reduce maintenance budget expenditures.

Participate in the annual budget preparation process as needed or requested.

Other Related Functions

Keep abreast of current trends, equipment technology and best practices in equipment maintenance.

Perform other special projects and assignments as requested.

Qualifications

Associates degrees in a relevant field of study orTechnical trade school certification, journeyman status in electrical, pipe-fitting, welding, instrumentation.

3 – 5 years of experience working in a maintenance craft with exposure to safety and hazardous situations, interpretation of blueprints and personnel, property and public safety issues associated with the utility industry.

Must have leadership ability with a willingness to lead, take charge, and offer opinions to provide guidance to lower-level peer group and assist more senior managers/directors in identifying the best people for special assignments and advancement.

Must have verbal and written communications skill’s ability to build long-term constructive and cooperative working relationships with co-workers, vendors, management and outside agencies.

Must have administrative and organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple projects, understand and apply company work rules, regulations, and collective bargaining agreement.

Must have computer skills with working knowledge of Microsoft Office and Computer Maintenance Management Systems.

Must have math and analytical skills with the ability to create professional reports.

Must have a valid Pennsylvania Driver’s License with a good driving record.

Must be flexible to working on-call, weekend, and holiday schedules in this 24-hour, 7 days/week operation.
