Position Information:

$16.08 per hour *Achieva will pay a higher rate for new employees who are NADSP certified

Location: Pittsburgh, PA (Beechview/Brookline area)

Full time shift(s) availability:

Mon-Thur 5:00pm-12:30am, Sun 10:00am-5:30pm

Tue-Fri 1:00p-8:30pm, Sat 10:00am-5:30pm

Mon-Fri 12:30am-8:00am

Vehicle at each site for transportation, but a valid driver's license is required

Career Development and Advancement Opportunities, in partnership with National Alliance of Direct Support Professionals (NADSP), are available for high achieving employees after 6 months of employment. DSP I $0.50 pay rate increase, DSP II $0.50 pay rate increase & DSP III $1.00 pay rate increase that will coincide with bonus incentives upon completion of each certification/module.

 

Position Description

Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) provide direct care and personalized support to people with intellectual and developmental disabilities in a community setting ensuring their health, safety, and welfare.

 

DSPs positively impact the people we support in a number of ways: taking people to medical appointments, participating in recreational activities, helping people with personal care, and supporting activities of daily living.

 

Job Responsibilities - Highlights

  • Understands, supports and advocates with people we support by helping them achieve *their* **vision of a good life.
  • Identifies, documents and shares concerns and successes as appropriate.
  • Transports and accompanies people to activities, appointments and events.  
  • Helps with personal care tasks as needed.
  • Assists with money management by promoting independence.
  • Administers medications.
  • Additional duties as assigned. 
  • Must obtain First Aid/CPR certification within 6 months of start date and pass Medication administration within 2 months of start date.

Qualifications

The equivalent of a High School Diploma is required. Ability to complete one person transfers is required. One year of related experience is preferred. Reliable transportation is essential. A valid driver's license is preferred. Must meet Act 33 and 34 requirements.
