The Division of Genetic and Genomic Medicine within the Department of Pediatrics at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine seeks a clinician-scientist interested in cardiolipin metabolism, inborn errors of fatty acid metabolism, mitochondrial metabolism, and lipidomic for an associate professor position in the non-tenure stream. Applicants must have an MD or MD-PhD degree. Applicants must have demonstrated academic progress and contributions through publications and grants of expertise in inborn errors of mitochondrial metabolism and cardiolipin metabolism. Compensation will be commensurate with experience.
Teaching responsibilities may include medical students, M.D. fellows, Ph.D.-level graduate students, and post-doctoral Ph.D. fellows.
The successful candidate will have demonstrated success with publications in high-quality peer-reviewed journals and funding from NIH and other federal or non-federal funding agencies. The selected candidate will interact and collaborate with investigators in the Department of Pediatrics and Department of Environmental Medicine (School of Public Health), as well as with the larger mitochondrial research community across the University of Pittsburgh campus. The ideal candidate will have the ability to productively collaborate with clinicians in multiple specialties to foster translational research in their area of expertise.
The Division of Genetics and Genomics Medicine has a robust clinical and research program that includes laboratory space in the Rangos Research Building on the Children's Hospital Campus and full access to the research computing facilities available at the University of Pittsburgh. Research faculty interests include inborn errors of metabolism, mitochondrial biology, and genetic neuromuscular disease with a strong translational focus. The Department of Pediatrics at the University of Pittsburgh ranks among the top 10 free-standing children's hospitals in total and NIH-sponsored research funding. The Rangos Research Building stands minutes away from the downtown cultural district, home stadiums for three major sports teams, an internationally recognized culinary scene, and renowned centers of higher learning in the University of Pittsburgh and Carnegie-Mellon University.
