Utah State Job Bank Prevention Specialist in RICHFIELD, Utah
Prevention Specialists work with individuals, families, institutions, organizations, and communities to promote positive lifestyles, reduce and eliminate risk factors that lead to problem behaviors, and follow evidence-based practices to engage community leaders, organizations, and agencies in uniting their prevention efforts.
Prevention Specialists perform a variety of professional duties related to coordinating, implementing, and supervising the Center's Prevention Programs throughout the 6 County area. This includes community coalitions, grants, data gathering, and other programs directed at mental health, substance use and other related prevention needs.
DETAILED JOB DESCRIPTION:
Meets monthly with prevention staff to discuss coalition needs, action plans, objectives, gaps, etc.
Monitors grants and budgets and meets monthly with Team Leaders to review.
Oversee the state reporting mandates, including data analysis and creating and publishing reports on prevention services and programs.
Conducts research on prevention programming, including fidelity checks and program review.
Provides gatekeeper training to the community.
Works with local coalitions and other community agencies to coordinate suicide and substance use prevention services throughout the 6 county area.
Facilitates evidence-based programs.
Performs related duties as required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Education and Experience:
Bachelor's Degree in the social sciences or other related field is preferred
Experience managing budgets and finances
Able to pass a background check (BCI) to work with youth and other vulnerable populations.
Must be proficient in the use of computer and keyboarding skills.
General knowledge of office software, such as Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Google Documents.
Must be capable of managing small groups in an educational setting and presenting in front of large groups.
Must have budget and fiscal accountability skills, including grantsmanship.
Must have a thorough knowledge of prevention science.
Must possess and maintain a valid Utah driver license.
