The RoleAs we continue to grow as QuidelOrtho, we are seeking a results-driven Engineering Manager for the Rochester MicroWell Manufacturing group. The individual will report to the Operations Director with accountability for ensuring effective production equipment performance and management of projects for the site.
This position is in Rochester, NY.
The ResponsibilitiesLeads a team of Engineering and Maintenance professionals to support manufacturing processes. This includes fully automated equipment, semi-automated equipment, and manual processes.
Oversees Engineering and capital projects, ensuring they are well-defined, effective, meet all requirements, delivered on-time and on-budget.
Supervises team of Engineers, Technicians, and other support staff.
Gathers equipment reliability data and develops plans for targeted improvements to support plant output targets. Has a working understanding of OEE metrics and improvement methods.
Monitors Preventative Maintenance (PM) execution and overall PM process. Looks for ways to improve PM practices.
Maintains strong lines of communication across departments to achieve plant goals.
Manages direct-reports through change-control/validation activities associated with Engineering and Maintenance changes.
Follows all safety and quality system requirements.
Performs other duties and projects as assigned.
Required:
Bachelor's degree in Engineering.
Minimum 8 years experience; or MS with up to 5 years demonstrated experience in Manufacturing Engineering.
Strong analytical & problem-solving skills.
Must be a well-organized self-starter to set priorities and allocate resources accordingly.
Experience supervising people.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Knowledge of current and applicable industry standards for GMP and FDA regulations for medical devices is acceptable.
Preferred:
Project management experience.
Six Sigma Black Belt certification.
Knowledge of QuidelOrtho change control and validation processes.

The work environment characteristics are representative of an office and up to 75% of time at desk, standing or sitting extended periods of time. Will require domestic and international travel up to 20%. Ability to travel on short notice.
Physical DemandsNo strenuous physical activity, though occasional light lifting of files and related materials (up to 10 lbs.) is required.
Salary TransparencyThe salary range for this position takes into account a wide range of factors including education, experience, knowledge, skills, geography, and abilities of the candidate, in addition to internal equity and alignment with market data. At QuidelOrtho, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. The salary range for this position is $80,000 to $136,000 and is bonus eligible. QuidelOrtho offers a comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, vision, life, and disability insurance, along with a 401(k) plan, employee assistance program, Employee Stock Purchase Plan, paid time off (including sick time), and paid Holidays. All benefits are non-contractual, and QuidelOrtho may amend, terminate, or enhance the benefits provided, as it deems appropriate.
