Accountable for the overall operations, efficiency, quality, and financial performance of the Cardiac Catheterization Lab (CCL) and Electrophysiology Lab (EPL) in collaboration with the administrative director, physician director and other key stakeholders. Provides internal and external communications regarding service line initiatives. Mobilizes and directs employees and physician teams to develop and achieve service line goals. Uses strategic thinking to improve patient care, efficiency, and competitiveness across the system. Responsible for the delivery of patient care that promotes the safety and well-being of all patients utilizing the services of the CCL and EPL.
_Essential Responsibilities_
· Directs the overall daily operations, efficiency, and fiscal management of the CCL and EPL.
o Monitors budgets. Aides in determining root causes of budget variances and responds appropriately.
o Takes appropriate steps to constantly analyze and improve operations.
o Maintains productivity targets.
o Contributes to strategic planning initiatives.
o Incorporates regulatory mandates into laboratory practice of the CCL and EPL.
o Makes and directs all work assignments.
o Schedules staff workdays to ensure appropriate coverage for patient care needs.
· Serves as a role model for staff in communications, collaboration, courtesy, and interactions. maintenance of standards of care
· Serves as a resource to Cath Lab staff and other departments; acts as liaison between Cath Lab and other departments to ensure efficient operations.
· Ensures appropriate orientation, education, credentialing and continuing professional development for staff.
· Facilitates monthly Cath Lab departmental staff meetings.
· Directs and monitors the delivery of personalized efficient care with respect for patient’s spiritual and cultural differences and individual rights and preferences. Considers factors related to safety, effectiveness and cost in planning and delivery of patient care.
· Collaborates with the Medical Director and Director of Radiology to address issues and promote quality improvement within the Lab.
· Verifies all records supporting employee compensation and coordinates the team’s work schedules.
· Uses computer system for work-related activities. Safeguards all computer information and maintains confidentiality. Maintains confidentiality of all hospital, patient, and employee information.
· Participates in ongoing Performance Improvement projects within the Health System as appropriate. Utilizes the Lean process for performance improvement activities. Demonstrates departmental Performance Improvement processes with a focus on patient/ family/employee and physician and staff satisfaction.
· Demonstrates knowledge and understanding of patient rights.
· Maintains Cath Lab clinical competencies for staff.
· Participates in developing and revising policies and procedures, job descriptions and competencies.
· Incorporation of current research, new interventions, and technological advances into practice.
· Promotes Rutherford Regional’s cardiac program in the community including educational programs.
Supervisory Responsibilities
Participate to some degree in each of the following responsibilities:
· Interviews and provides training for all Cath Lab employees.
· Promotes and Evaluates - Independently evaluates and determines work assignments and evaluates job performance, recognizes performances.
· Assigns and Directs - Coordinates staff schedules, work assignments, and staff overtime scheduling.
· Exercises Supervisory Authority -Implements department and/or hospital policy; ensures all employees are trained in policy; exercises discretion, independent of policy to insure proper function of department or subdepartment.
· Demonstrates solid skills in all forms of communication. Works well with others and fosters a spirit of teamwork and cooperation.
- Facilitating staff input into decisions affecting clinical practice in the laboratory and other patient care units providing care for patients post procedure.
- Encourages staff to obtain the RCVT (I) credential.
- Ensures staff is cross trained for all position and areas in the laboratory.
Job Qualifications
- Education *
Required:High School Diploma or equivalent.**Graduate of a School of Nursing,bachelor’s degree in nursing(BSN).
Preferred:*Master’s degree in nursing, health care, or business.
Experience
Required: 3 - 5 years in Critical Care/Intensive Care, cardiac, operating room nursing.
Preferred:Three to five years Cardiac Catheterization/Electrophysiology nursing.**

*Required:*Current North Carolina RN license, ACLS,**CPR certificationPreferred:*Certification in Critical Care nursing field

Ability to assess and provide age/developmental specific patient care.
Ability to apply critical thinking skills, knowledge base, physical tasks and interpersonal skills. Ability to apply good interpersonal communication skills. Ability to maintain and help others maintain positive attitude in frequently changing, high volume department.
