Saginaw County Governmental Center Nursing Program Supervisor in Saginaw, Michigan

DESCRIPTION:

Performs intermediate advanced human support work assisting the Nursing Director in the management, evaluation and supervision of personnel in programmatic areas to ensure high quality, cost effective health care to Saginaw County residents. Work is performed under the limited direction of the assigned supervisor. Limited supervision is exercised over assigned personnel.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Manages day to day operation of assigned Nursing Division Schedules, plans and conducts program staff meetings. Develops, implements and evaluates program policies and procedures. Monitors and evaluates performance of assigned staff. Utilizes critical thinking, conflict resolution and problem solving when leading staff. Ensures quality assurance of care and resolves issues and concerns. Accepts organization accountability for services provided to clients.

  • Analyzes programmatic data and prepares various reports. Provides input on annual budget preparation and divisional goals.
  • Actively participates with divisional leadership to assure that state and federal accreditation requirements and program mandates are being met. Reviews publications, notices, legislation, and other documents to remain current on nursing best practices, public health matters and quality care. Communicates program updates to divisional leadership.
  • Participates in the selection and orientation of new employees. Provides divisional coverage in the absence of other management. Facilitates additional training as necessary.
  • Promotes collaborative partnerships with other health and human service agencies to enhance coordination and expansion of Represents the Health Department at various meetings and conferences, both in and out of state. Promotes Health Department programs by providing information and education to the community in meetings, at local health fairs, to area colleges and universities and in person. Acts as a spokesperson for assigned programs.
  • Ensures all program supplies, biologics and pharmaceuticals are inventoried, stored and administered/distributed properly. On-call for emergencies.
