ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
- Communicates with general public, subordinates, other County employees, management, vendors, outside agency personnel, and other emergency service providers in order to ensure proper emergency services to the public and compliance with communications procedures/regulations;
- Instructs and/or trains others in a classroom setting or on-the-job training regarding operating procedures and on the various systems within the Communications Center;
- Serves as PSAP Manager, which entails coordinating with appropriate agencies to obtain budgetary funds for equipment and coordinating policy;
- Oversees Computer Telephone Integration (CTI) related to CAD and communications systems;
- Liaison with AZ DPS regarding management and legal restrictions of all criminal justice related data, to include all aspects of ACJIS compliance;
- Coordinates ongoing hardware refresh planning, budgeting, submitting funding requests to appropriate county agencies, etc.;
- Coordinates and plans upgrades, system changes and issues with external vendors for the phone systems, CAD, and radio systems;
- Coordinates radio system personnel to identify operational needs, training issues and policy implementation;
- Participates on CAD development and working with the IT team to view new system upgrades, plan implementation/training and ensure an operation phone system;
- Supervises staff on assigned shifts and maintains first-line supervisory responsibility for the training program (new hire and continuing education);
- Handles day-to-day procedural questions and personnel issues that arise which includes scheduling requests, conducting internal investigations, corrective action and discipline, etc.;
- Participates in the budget process by identifying needs, writing position justifications for personnel needs and participates in strategic planning;
- Researches new equipment/systems/technological issues and writes related proposals;
- Accumulates, analyzes and reports statistical data to determine operational effectiveness and makes presentations to internal stakeholders and the public;
- Develops and updates communications procedures and standards for PSAP;
- May respond to phone calls and/or radio traffic in order to assist subordinates;
- Serves as ACJIS Systems Security Officer (SSO);
- Other duties as required.
