College of St Benedict Visiting Assistant Professor of Music in Saint Joseph, Minnesota
Position Summary The Department of Music at the College of Saint Benedict and Saint John s University invites applications for a full-time, three-year appointment at the rank of Visiting Assistant Professor in choral conducting and applied voice. We seek candidates who exemplify excellence in both choral and vocal pedagogy, a commitment to community building, and a strong interest in leading soprano-alto choral ensembles. An appreciation for the liberal arts learning environment is essential. Responsibilities RESPONSIBILITIES Primary teaching responsibilities include conducting the Women s Choir (an auditioned SA choir) and teaching applied voice. Depending on the candidate s areas of interest and expertise, other potential teaching responsibilities may include conducting the All-College Choir (a non-auditioned SATB choir), teaching Learning Foundations (an introductory writing-intensive course in the general education curriculum), or other topics to fulfill the needs of the department. The candidate will be responsible for teaching the equivalent of three 4-credit courses per semester plus contributing to departmental-level service and student advising. DEPARTMENT HIGHLIGHTS Accredited by the National Association of Schools of Music (NASM), the Music Department offers a Bachelor of Arts degree in music with concentrations in music education (instrumental and vocal) and a music minor. With over 450 students enrolled in applied lessons, ensembles, and music courses, the Department plays a vital role in the culture of our institutions.
