Position Description

TheSchool of Music (https://www.music.txst.edu/) at Texas State University seeks an engaging, creative, collaborative, and dedicated teacher to serve as a full-time, non-tenure-line Assistant Professor of Instruction of Sound Recording Technology beginning August 2025.

The successful candidate will be expected to:

· Teach undergraduate sound recording and music production classes.

· Mentor Sound Recording Technology majors.

· Assume the duties of the assistant studio director, helping to maintain several labs and support commercial studio activity.

· Participate in faculty meetings, committees, and service activities.

· Other duties assigned by the Director of the School of Music.

Positions are subject to availability of funds.

Required Qualifications

· Master’s degree in music technology or related field; or equivalent professional experience.

· Record of accomplishment as a recording engineer at the professional level.

· Potential for success in teaching sound recording technology at the professional or collegiate level.

· Proficient in Avid ProTools.

· Experience working with individuals from varied backgrounds.

Preferred Qualifications

· Doctorate in audio engineering or related field.

· National/international stature as a professional working with audio in the field of commercial music, film, or gaming.

· Demonstrated communication and organizational skills, and an ability to work collaboratively.

· Experience producing content for delivery via Dolby Atmos.
