Amazon Manager Credit Risk , Account Receivable Credit Risk and Debt Recovery Team in Seattle, Washington

The Financial Operations Account Receivable team is looking for a Risk Manager to join the Credit Risk Strategy and Operations team. This individual will manage a team of credit risk analysts as Amazon's second line of defense. The goal is to mitigate losses across all of Amazon's channels through insightful credit analysis while driving more robust collection actions downstream. The successful candidate will be a thought leader who can help build and scale a best-in-class credit management program. The candidate will be responsible for managing the portfolio from a risk perspective to identify risky customers and vendors at scale. In this role, the candidate will drive new model development, coordinate with third party credit bureaus to develop best in class credit models and update collection procedures to action credit insights. The ideal candidate should possess strong people and credit management skills, directly support continuous improvement initiatives, be highly analytical, resourceful, Customer-focused and team oriented, with outstanding communication skills and the ability to build strong relationships with key stakeholders. This is a management role directly managing a team of risk analysts; demonstrated success managing a team is a must.

Key job responsibilities

  • Developing credit strategies to proactively identify and remediate emerging portfolio hot-spots

  • Regularly evaluate collection loss mitigation policies, and drives ongoing model back-testing and new model development.

  • Have a strong desire in innovating processes and exceed expectations in a dynamic, fast-paced environment, primarily driving innovation on behalf of collection teams and other corporate stakeholders

  • Break down complex problem in smaller, simplified work streams

  • Articulate to different audience in both verbal and written communication. Must be comfortable presenting to senior Amazon leadership and defending team risk ratings.

  • Work in a fast paced, highly demanding and often ambiguous environment, with strong attention to detail

Basic Qualifications

  • 8+ years of tax, finance or a related analytical field experience

  • 3+ years of advanced proficiency in Excel (pivots, lookups, etc.) experience

  • 6+ years of Accounts Receivable or Account Payable experience

  • 6+ years of applying key financial performance indicators (KPIs) to analyses experience

  • 6+ years of building financial and operational reports/data sets that inform business decision-making experience

  • 6+ years of creating process improvements with automation and analysis experience

  • 5+ years of directly managing and leading a team of 5+ members experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • 6+ years of participating in continuous improvement projects in your team to scale and improve controllership with measurable results experience

  • 6+ years of identifying incomplete or inaccurate data, identifying the root cause and creating/implementing an escalation plan experience

  • 6+ years of mentoring junior finance and/or business team members experience

  • 3+ years of working with senior staff (e.g. c-suite) experience

  • MBA, or CPA

  • Experience working with large-scale data mining and reporting tools (i.e. SQL, MSAccess, Essbase or Cognos) and providing recommendations based on results of ad hoc analyses to management for strategic decision-making

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $125,200/year in our lowest geographic market up to $207,000/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
