Summary Reclamation is seeking a career professional looking for an opportunity to capitalize on their expertise as a Supervisory Park Ranger. Duty Location: Sonora, California Responsibilities As a Supervisory Park Ranger with the California-Great Basin Region, duties and responsibilities include (but not limited to): Directing the work of seasonal, temporary, and permanent park ranger employees. Conducting safety inspections of all recreation facilities and concession areas and resolving deficiencies. Facilitating ongoing training and support for supervised ranger staff. Planning and implementing various program objectives in relation to resource management, recreation, interpretation, concessions management, and visitor services. Performing other duties as assigned within this classification. Requirements Conditions of Employment You must be a U.S. Citizen or U.S. National. The cost of the exam will be reimbursed by the agency. Must possess or be able to obtain certification as a Contracting Officer's Technical Representative (COTR)/Contracting Officer's Representative (COR). May be required to work evenings and/or weekends depending on the needs of the project to which the employee is assigned. Temporary duty (TDY) or overnight business travel may be required up to 10% of the time. This position is designated as a Non-Sensitive LOW-RISK position and requires a fully completed and favorably adjudicated National Agency Check with Inquiries (NACI) background investigation. To qualify for the GS-11: You must possess one year of specialized experience that is comparable in scope and complexity to the GS-9 grade level in the Federal civil service. Qualifying experience must demonstrate the following in relation to the management of parks and recreation areas and the conservation of natural and cultural resources: Planning, administering and/or evaluating objectives for two or more program areas (i.e., concessions, interpretation, recreation, resource management, visitor services); Coordinating and prioritizing work assignments for other rangers; Developing training materials; Providing technical guidance to junior rangers on the implementation and utilization of interpretive program materials. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade level in the Federal civil service (GS-9). You could otherwise qualify on the basis of education if you have completed 3 full academic years of progressively higher-level graduate education or Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree in a field related to the occupation, such as natural resource management, natural sciences, earth sciences, history, archaeology, anthropology, park and recreation management; law enforcement/police science, social sciences, museum sciences, business administration, public administration, behavioral sciences, or sociology. NOTE: You must submit copies of your college transcripts with your application if electing to qualify based on education alone. You may combine specialized experience and education to meet the minimum qualifications. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Time-in-Grade: Current career or career-conditional employees of the Federal government, or former career or career-conditional employees who have a break in service of less than one year are required to meet the Time-in-Grade restriction of one year at the next lower-grade in the federal civil service, with few exceptions outlined in 5 CFR 300.603(b). You must meet all Eligibility and Qualification requirements, including Time-in-Grade restrictions, by 01/24/2025. Education This vacancy announcement allows substituting education for experience at the GS-11 grade level. You must submit legible copies of your college transcript(s) (unofficial copy is acceptable) to support claimed education if substituting education for experience. Transcripts must include the name of the college or university and date the degree was conferred. A typed list of courses, grades, semester/quarter hours, GPA, etc. will not be accepted.
