About the Department The Respiratory Therapist team is in a close working relationship with the medical staff, other members of the health administrative personnel, patients and patient families, and maintain a cooperative working relationship within their department and interdepartmentally. Mission for Position To provide individualized personal and respiratory care to patients while preserving the patient's rights and human dignity in a confidential manner, encouraging the patient to function at their highest level of ability. Duties & Responsibilities Required job responsibilities are: Airway management and resuscitation Mechanical ventilation Respiratory and oxygen therapy Diagnostic testing and monitoring Provide care to pulmonary rehabilitation patients Maintain supplies/equipment/policies required for departmental operation Maintain appropriate logs/charts for department Provide orientation to new staff and nursing students on respiratory modalities as needed. Instruct and educate patients on COPD, asthma, smoking cessation, respiratory disease, physiology, treatment and monitoring as needed Provide respiratory therapy education to current staff as needed Position Type This is a full-time position working approximately 60 hours every two weeks and rotating every fourth weekend. Rotating holidays and on-call shifts will be required. Qualifications Qualifications Graduation from an accredited school of respiratory therapy. Current registration or certification in the State of Minnesota. Satisfactory performance in similar position for a minimum of two years. Ability to plan, direct and/or implement and evaluate the respiratory care delivered to patients.
