Mississippi State University Assistant Research Professor in Starkville, Mississippi
Duties: Lead industry driven materials science and engineering research with a focus on the thermomechanical processing of steel and aluminum alloys. Work with regional industry on the development of new products and technologies. Write proposals to solicit funding, actively pursue journal publications.
Requirements: PhD in Materials or Engineering Science, Metallurgy, or a related field. 2 years of experience in research and development of new steel grades and thermomechanical processing technology for steel products in the industry, including steelmaking, hot rolling, heat treatment, cold forming, and welding. Strong background in each: leading R&D projects; studying and modeling microstructure evolution processes; developing research experiment methodology; operating simulation, mechanical testing, and characterization equipment; specifying and acquiring laboratory equipment and instrumentation. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
