WSP has an exciting opportunity for a full-time Junior Air Quality Scientist to join our Mine Water and Environment East group in Sudbury.

What you can expect to do here:

  • Carrying out air quality and greenhouse gas emissions assessments, independently or as part of a larger group, which consists of: emission source inventory development, data analysis, detailed calculations, atmospheric dispersion modelling and reporting

  • Some field work including emission source identification, data collection, fugitive dust sampling and ambient air quality monitoring

  • Assisting in the preparation of proposals and project reports as directed

  • Assisting with business development and client support under the direction of intermediate and senior staff

  • Collaborating with other technical staff in Ontario and Canada

  • We place a strong emphasis on developing practical solutions to meet our Client’s needs, and preference will be given to individuals with excellent communication and interpersonal skills in addition to strong technical competence and reporting.

What you’ll bring to WSP:

  • You have at least Bachelor’s degree in Science, Applied Science or Engineering

  • 0-3 years previous experience working in the environmental sciences profession

  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word

  • You have excellent English (verbal /written) communication skills;

  • You have solid organizational skills (prioritization, time management, record keeping, follow up, tracking);

  • You enjoy field work, and are comfortable and can demonstrate competency in driving in remote and off-road settings;

  • Experience in environmental consulting, knowledge of industrial processes (specifically mining) is an asset
