SUNY Upstate Medical University Hospital Patient Services Clerk 1 in Syracuse, New York
Job Summary:
Schedule based on 40 hours per week. Duties include but are not limited to: Direct contact with patients/families; obtain and record patient information by interviewing in person or by phone for financial, medical and personal history; patient registration; obtain and verify insurance authorization; coordinate request and receipt of patient medical records prior to visit; coordinate patient transportation arrangements; answer phone and relay messages; schedule appointments; direct patients to the appropriate locations and coordinate with various hospital departments for efficient patient flow; insure the safe handling of patient valuables and payments. Cross coverage within the Cancer Center as needed. Excellent customer service, communication and organizational skills are necessary. Knowledge of medical terminology is desired.
Minimum Qualifications:
For consideration for this title, you must meet the following minimum qualifications:
One year full-time clerical, secretarial or patient care experience in a healthcare setting.
Work Days:
Schedule based on 40 hour work week. Monday-Friday 7:30am-4pm
