Amazon Consumer Marketing Manager, Amazon Pay in Tokyo, Japan

Amazon Pay is the service which offers more convenient and safer shopping experience to Amazon customers.

Amazon Pay enables customer to leverage their shipping information and payment information such as credit card which have been stored in Amazon Account for shopping at EC sites outside of Amazon.co.jp. With this service, customers do not need to remember every single ID/Password at non-Amazon sites, no need to type in shipping address/credit card, and be protected by Amazon Marketplace Guarantee. There are quite a few merchants who reported that Amazon Pay wallet share became 50% from 30% at their site and Amazon Pay is well accepted by customers. For Merchants, Amazon Pay can increase their conversion rate (cart-in to purchase-complete) and contribute to their membership acquisition.

Since its JP launch in May 2015, more than 100,000 EC sites have already installed this service and the business is growing much faster than any other countries and our business plan. Thus, Amazon Pay JP Marketing team is seeking an experienced consumer marketing manager who could play a critical role in maximizing LTV, acquiring new customers, and retaining active customers of Amazon Pay. Working in collaboration with Global Marketing Team, Consumer Payments team, and other internal and external stakeholders, this role will be responsible for identifying new opportunities, testing and learning, and delivering results to earn new buyers of Amazon Pay and to promote repeat purchases of Amazon Pay.

The ideal candidate will be a Marketer who is flexible, data oriented, and executes flawlessly yet creative (for new ideas) and not afraid to fail. You will be excited to test and learn in a data-oriented environment, using customer data and insights, if necessary run research to make new campaigns with economic recommendations.

  • Enjoying to plan and execute campaigns that no one has ever done before and to create the processes/SOP from scratch.

  • Proven analytical and quantitative skills (including use of Excel and other software) and an ability to use hard data and metrics to support assumptions and develop project business cases.

  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, capable of owning and writing complex documents and presenting/influencing senior stakeholders

  • An ability to think big and execute methodically.

  • Self-sufficiency while operating on a team.

Key job responsibilities

  • Develop and execute effective consumer marketing programs/campaigns for increasing consumers’ awareness of Amazon Pay, acquiring new consumers, promoting repeat purchases for existing consumers, and contributing to maximizing TPV.

  • Optimize marketing channels with respect to Amazon O&O and external channels.

  • Lead initiatives end to end, working with cross functional teams such as global marketing, product, design, and business intelligence team to optimize, execute and deliver campaigns.

  • Work with internal partner teams to execute in new and existing marketing channels on Amazon.co.jp.

  • Manage internal and external design and research agencies to create acquisition and existing customer marketing campaigns.

  • Dive deep the effectiveness of the projects/campaigns, identify insights, and share the results with senior leaders and stakeholders.

  • Coordinate initiatives with key financials partners, working backwards to ensure a streamlined execution and approval process to launch initiatives.

Basic Qualifications

  • 5+ years digital marketing experience. B2C experience is must, B2B is a plus.

  • High leadership and outstanding skills in building team culture; able to inspire and elevate cross-functional teams

  • Exceptional strategic, creative, and analytical capabilities, with the ability to translate deep insights into impactful consumer marketing programs/campaigns

  • Excellent communication in English & Japanese; able to influence executives, key stakeholders, and external partners (written and verbal communications in both Japanese and English)

  • Experience in content creation such as emails, web copy, landing page copy, video, etc.

  • Proficient with a varied set of marketing automation and editing tools (including Pardot, HTML, XML, basic to intermediate Excel, and image editing software).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of the Payments sector

  • International experience

  • Ability to deliver in a matrix organization with multiple stakeholders
