Cognizant Senior AS400 Engineer - Hybrid in Toronto, Ontario
We are seeking an expert Senior AS400 Engineer to join our dynamic IT team. The ideal candidate will possess extensive knowledge and hands-on experience with AS/400 Utilities, CLLE, RPGLE, DB2/400, and CLP. As a Senior AS400 Engineer, you will be responsible for developing, maintaining, and optimizing enterprise applications that are crucial for our daily operations. Your expertise will be essential in ensuring that our systems run smoothly, efficiently, and meet the demands of the business. In this role, you will collaborate with multi-functional teams to gather requirements, design solutions, and implement enhancements. You will also provide mentorship to junior engineers, guiding them in standard methodologies and innovative problem-solving methods.
In this role, you will
Monitor and support AS400 production systems to ensure optimal performance.
Diagnose and solve production issues in a timely manner.
Implement changes and enhancements to existing AS400 applications and systems.
Collaborate with development teams to support application deployments and updates.
Prepare and maintain documentation for system processes and procedures.
What you’ll need to succeed (required skills)
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
Minimum of 8+ years of experience in RPG, RPG IV, RPGILE, CL, CLLE, DB2400 production support.
Minimum of 5+ years of experience in Cobol.
Experience with writes, configures, and integrates code to create the software that aligns with requirements, architecture patterns and technology standards
What will help you stand out (preferred skills)
Experience in Commercial lines Insurance (P & C) Knowledge required, Insurance Domain experience
Experience in Legacy Modernization, ALDON
Experience in Policy Admin systems
Exposure in Mainframes – JCL, DB2,IMSDb/DC,CICS
