City of Traverse City Water Treatment Plant Operator in Traverse City, Michigan
Under the direct supervision of the Chief Water Treatment Plant Operator and general supervision of the Water Treatment Plant Superintendent, this position is thoroughly trained and experienced in the operation of a water treatment plant, fulfills a variety of responsibilities including production of clean and safe water for community use, operation of a State Certified Laboratory, calculating chemical feed rates, and performing clean-up and maintenance of plant facilities, grounds, booster stations, and reservoirs. Starting wage is $26.04 per hour.

Education, Training and Experience:
- Associate Degree in Applied Science required or Certificate in Water Technology from an accredited college. Previous work experience in a water treatment facility preferred.
Licensing and Other Requirements:
- Must possess or obtain within 18 months from date of hire, an F-4 Michigan State Certification in water treatment.
- Must possess a valid Michigan Driver's License and be able to obtain appropriate license endorsements required by the Employer and the State of Michigan.
- Must be physically able to use ladders and stairs entering manholes or tanks per current confined space entry requirements, performing maintenance as required to properly maintain the water plant.
- Must be able to comprehend, process, and apply information and knowledge necessary to maintain a number of plant systems such as, chemical feed systems, pneumatic and hydro pneumatic systems, telemetering controls, PLC computer systems and other related Water Plant systems.
- Must reside in and maintain principal residence within 30 miles from the nearest city limit, within twelve months of the date of hire.
