Robert Half Payroll Accountant in Troy, Michigan
Description We are offering a permanent employment opportunity for a Payroll Accountant based in a location in Michigan. The selected candidate will be joining a team within the financial services industry, working on tasks such as tax compliance, garnishment administration, system management, and payroll reconciliation.
Responsibilities:
• Ensuring the accurate calculation, reporting, and remittance of all payroll taxes at the federal, state, and local levels.
• Keeping up to date with changes in tax legislation and modifying payroll systems to accommodate these changes.
• Assisting with payroll tax audits and responding to inquiries from government agencies.
• Processing various employee garnishments, including child support, tax levies, and creditor garnishments.
• Communicating with employees and external agencies regarding garnishment orders and ensuring timely payments in compliance with legal requirements.
• Utilizing a specific payroll processing system, with a focus on tax and garnishment modules, and providing technical support for the system.
• Collaborating with the HRIS team to improve system functionalities.
• Reconciling payroll tax filings and garnishment deductions, preparing and reviewing payroll reports for accuracy and compliance.
• Analyzing payroll data to identify discrepancies and implementing corrective actions. Requirements • Proficiency in Accounting Software Systems
• Experience with ADP - Financial Services
• Proficiency in using ADP Workforce Now
• Experience with Ceridian software
• Familiarity with Concur software
• Knowledge of 401k - RRSP Administration
• Experience with About Time software
• Ability to handle all Accounting Functions
• Understanding of Accrual Accounting principles
• Experience in Auditing
• Proficiency in using Ceridian Payroll System
