Duties

The Opportunity: *We are searching for a Cash Receipting Manager to provide expertise, support, guidance and leadership to an accounting team responsible for cash receipting activities, including balancing and reconciling pension funds and cash flow calculations and projections. *Some of what you'll do includes:

  • Hiring, training, directing, and evaluating professional accounting staff. This will include conducting performance appraisals, one-on-one coaching, and recognition.
  • Planning, organizing, directing, and leading the activities and workload of the accounting team to ensure accurate, efficient, and timely performance. 
  • Providing expertise direction for all the agency's cash receipting activities. 
  • Developing, analyzing, and revising overall procedures and schedules to meet changing requirements/workloads.
  • Ensuring the balancing and reconciliation of pension funds on a daily, monthly, annual basis. 
  • Responsible for cash flow calculations and projections including changes in contribution rates and benefit payments due to legislation and COLAs, or other factors including other sources of funding. 
  • Analyzing and interpreting the impact of state and agency rules, regulations, and policies to determine if any changes or enhancements are needed to ensure systems and processes related to the cash processes remain fully compliant.

NOTE: * After successful completion of the review period and effectively demonstrating the ability to perform work independently, you may be eligible to telework up to two (2) days per week, at the discretion of the Appointing Authority and with a telework agreement in place. The ability to work remotely is dependent on the nature of the tasks and projects assigned and the presence of a remote work environment that is safe and has an appropriate level of reliable connectivity. You must live within a reasonable commuting distance (less than 50 straight-line miles) to the DRS building in Tumwater, WA, and must be willing to adjust your telework schedule to attend mandatory meetings, trainings, etc., at the DRS facility.*

What we're looking for (required qualifications): * *Proven ability and experience in:

Demonstrated expertise and progressively responsible experience in processing, reconciling, and balancing cash receipts, and accounting records; *This is typically gained through at least four (4) years of professional experience; a bachelor's degree (including 18 quarter or 12 semester hours in accounting) may substitute for up to two years of experience; *and
